11. Jarhead (7/10)
-Maybe it's the military side of me (I'm USAF), but I really enjoyed this movie. I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie, but couldnt find the time. Is it just me or is Jake Gyllenhaal everywhere this year, like Jude Law was everywhere a couple years ago.
10. Kingdom of Heaven (7/10)
-This movie was unexpectedly good. I thought it was going to be like every other movie like it. And to a certain extent it was, but it also had its own points that made it a really good watch.
9. King Kong (8/10)
-I'm pretty sure the only reason I didnt rate or rank this movie higher is because it felt a bit long. If you havent seen it and are thinking about seeing it, wait until you think your ready for the 3 hour endurance test.
8. The 40 Year Old Virgin (8/10)
-This movie was very well written, some of the things they say and do are just so completely real and halarious. Me and my friends just cannot stop quoting this movie.
7. The Constant Gardener (8/10)
-This type of movie are pretty much alway some of my favorites (the thriller/spy genre). Ralph Fiennes and Rachael Weisz are terrific together.
6. Crash (8/10)
-All i can say is WOW. Loved all the inter-connecting stories, this edgy drama should be a frontrunner for the oscar.
5. Syriana (8/10)
-A great real-life look at whats going on in the world. A fantastic all-star cast and an awesomely told story. This is probably not for everyone though.
4. Cinderella Man (9/10)
-Best boxing movie ever! Really pulled at the heartsrings. And it never hurts to have Paul Giamatti has a fantastic supporting actor.
3. Munich (10/10)
-Steven Spielberg...real historical events...nuff said.
2. Sin City (10/10)
-Amazing. This is probably one of the sweetest made movies in years. I never really read the graphic novels, but it didnt matter...it was awesome.
1. Layer Cake (10/10)
-Brilliant! A great story told through the eyes of Matthew Vaughn (the would have been director of X3 and the producer of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch). Vaughn takes off where Guy Ritchie left off (and hopefully picks up again with Revolver), in this great crime drama. I even loved the music.
Honorable Mentions: Batman Begins, A History of Violence, Wedding Crasher.
