Well, I finally feel motivated to start writing my little blog. The first topic I wanted to cover is something that actually started existing in the last decade. I'm talking about "fanboyism" (if that's a word). We all felt it in some way or another, we all had our moments in our lives where we just had to defend something we love to eat or drink or use in our everyday lives. It's like that age old argument people always have about what's better: coke or pepsi?; nike or adidas? Tim Hortons or Dunkin' donuts? Nowadays, for people like you and me that are often on gamespot or ign, we hear a lot of : Xbox vs Playstation vs Nintendo. Something that strikes me and actually shocks me is how some people get arrogant and vulgar when defending their console of choice. So let's go back a step and analyze what's going on here. Why do people need to defend their favorite console so harshly? The answer is not actually that hard to understand. People invest time and money but mostly create memories using the devices they love. Someone that always used a playstation for example will have so many memories of happy and sad moments to talk about when using their PS that they initially want the world to feel like them. Humans are creatures of emotions, but most of all, we like to share our experiences. We want others to feel like we do, and we persuade ourselves that they can only accomplish that if they use the same devices we use. Then, this feeling gets perverted into violence for some people. They insult people who follow other devices because they don't apparently understand. But sitting down and thinking about it, one realises that what you felt with one devices might have been that same thing felt by someone else using another device. Humans don't all think alike and don't all have the same needs (basic needs not withstanding). We can't assume that because we like to do something then everyone else should do it and like it. The world just doesn't work that way. Humans are different and that's a good thing. It's also what makes us...well...human.
