Adding to my earlier question, why is it that games play in Dolby Digital, but for some strange reason Bluray movies only come through in Prologic? Kinda weird Id say!kungfuchaos
What receiver are you using? ... or better yet ... How is your receiver configured to handle your bitstream? ... Oh I get it:! It's not your receiver ... it's your PS3's audio settings. Try this:
1) Go to "BD/DVD settings" under SETTINGS in the PS3 XMB.
2) Scroll down to "BD Audio Output Format (Optical Digital)" and select "Bitstream"
that's it ... note: Make sure you select the Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1 soundtrack when watching the blu-ray movie.

Blurays are encoded in Linear PCM.budboarder
Huh? Are you saying that blu-ray movies that are encoded with DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD audio are decodedby the PS3 and then outputted as linear PCM? What do you mean? Your answer needs to be more specific)
Anyway... the preferred audio/sound output setting would be BITSTREAM, for the most part. If you want to hear Dolby Digital 5.1 audio or DTS 5.1 audio from DVD movies, games, etc. use bitstream. If you want to hear the "next-gen audio" (i.e. DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD) from blu-ray movies, make sure you have an HDMI cable going from PS3 to "next-gen compatible" receiver and another HDMI cable going from that receiver to the TV. The PS3 will decode the "next-gen audio" internally and then output it via HDMI (and only HDMI, not optical) to the receiver as multi-channel linear PCM audio.
For starters try the Onkyo TX-SR605 or Sony STR-DG 720. They both can handle the multichannel linear PCM audio that the PS3 will spit out through HDMI.
I hope that helps ya, pal :)

but mine would be
Matrix
Transformers
Star Wars series
War of the Worlds
Cloverfield (even tho itll prolly come out)
The Bond Series! (which would cost around 1000! theres 21 movies!!! 630 for each separate but they'd prolly have the collectors set so thatd up the ante to more realistically 750-800
Indiana Jones
Sweeney Todd
Secret Window
Monty Pythons: Life of Brian.. HOly Grail...Menaing of Life
Dude!! I forgot about the Bond series! The problem with that one for me is the fact that I already have the Ultimate Editions (Vol.1-4) on DVD and Casino Royale on Blu-ray. However, I would love to see GoldFinger in hidef; it already looks priceless on DVD. Boy, if only the Lowry Group did all the remastering and transferring for all my favorite movies...
Oh yeah ... I am all over this ... check this out:
Note: These are not in any ranking order.
1. The Matrix Trilogy.
2. Taxi Driver
3. Jaws
4. GhostBusters
5. Star Wars (the good 'ol original 1st three movies)
6. Scarface
7. The Alien Trilogy
8. The Godfather
9. The Godfather pt. 2
10. ET (come on Spielberg, Close Encounters is done, it's time for this big one)
I upgraded my 20gb launch PS3 to a 250Gb. It works great and I love it that much more, but I have a question. Now that I have upgraded the Hard drive, is there any way that I can save photos and movies onto the hard drive? You can not on the 20Gb hard drive, so is there any way to overrule that since I've upgraded?

Just burn some photos or movies on to some optical media (12 cm discs like DVD-Rs and CD-Rs) with a PC or Mac and copy that disc onto your PS3 hard drive. You can also use USB flash drives. 20GB PS3s did not come with flash memory card slots (CF, SD, XD cards), but they came with USB 2.0 ports... and you should already know this, considering that you work on electronics and built your own computer... right? ;)
We all know the big names of 2008 that we have all been drooling and waiting impatiently for. Here are a few of them:
First up the PlayStation 3:
Alone in the Dark, Army of Two, Battlefield: Bad Company, Bionic Commando, Borderlands, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, Condemned 2: Bloodshot, Dark Sector, Dead Space, Deus Ex 3, Fallout 3, Final Fantasy XIII/Versus XIII, Fracture, Grid, Gran Turismo 5, Grand Theft Auto IV, Haze, Infamous, Just Cause 2, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Midnight Club: LA, Mirror's Edge, Motorstorm 2, Operation Flashpoint 2, Project Origin, Prototype, Rage, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Resident Evil 5, Resistance 2, SOCOM: Confrontation, Saboteur, Saints Row 2, Silent Hill 5, Soul Calibur IV, Tekken 6, The Getaway, The Last Remnant, Tiberium, Tom Clancy's EndWar, Tomb Raider Underworld, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, and White Knight Story.
Phew! And that was just the big name ones...... that is a crap load of games! If you ask me, this is gonna be another amazing year for gaming with so much to choose from, and personally I think 2008 is the Year of the PS3.
So which ones are you most excited and have great expectations for?
UnreaLuigi
Let's face it many of those games will be delayed until next year for whatever reason: The Getaway, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Motorstorm 2, Resistance 2, and Tomb Raider Underworld... just to name a few likely suspects.
Anyway, I'm still very excited. PS3 owners will get MGS4, Haze, and LittleBigPlanet in 2008; that's for sure. Boy! Think about it. Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MGS4, Haze, and Gran Turismo 5 all in the same year!!?? and those are just the PS3 exclusives!
