[QUOTE="DJ_Lae"]Either your CPU is soldered to the motherboard of your laptop, which will make upgrading next to impossible, or you'll find it extremely hard to find a reasonably inexpensive replacement online, as notebook processors are rare on their own and far costlier than desktop ones. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&SubCategory=759&N=2010340759&SpeTabStoreType=1 Yours is Socket P from what I can find out online, and the cheapest one is $220 for a relatively minor bump in performance.Buttons1990
Exactly... Laptops aren't like Desktops... It isn't as simple as plopping the CPU into a socket and locking it in place... In most cases, Laptops have a motherboard built specifically for that model and the GPU/CPU is built into the motherboard... You can't just take it out and replace it...
Right right. My previous laptop was a Toshiba Satellite -- and other than some memory upgrades, I couldn't do anything with it (it's now my work computer). The Aspire, from what I've gathered on other forums (sauce: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread227768.html ), IS upgradeable; but I haven't gotten any good recommendations for what I ought to upgrade to.
