I'd sell my gamecube copy on ebay as it is averaging around $35 and definitely would buy the HD version.  It'll cost you about $15 and is a nice upgrade.

farrell2k
That's exactly what I did. No sense in having 2 versions. Of course a lot of people here are collectors so they'd never do that. Except for rare occasions I never collect things. The joy of videogames to me is playing them. If I'm not going to play them then I'd rather sell them for new games.

Well you can hold B while the Wii U is starting and it will boot into Wii mode. For some reason that doesn't always work though. I also heard something about going into settings and changing HDMI display to another connection and that's lets you boot into Wii mode without a TV, but I haven't tried it.

I don't thin there will be any new game surprises or anything.  I think there's a good chance of some high profile VC games releasing before Christmas and probably some kind of digital sales.  We'll probably get a different bundle with either Mario game. I think DK would have helped but the lineup is strong enough for the rest of the year.  The other next gen systems will probably mostly sell to the faithful Playstation and XBOX people with money just like the Wii U has done early on.  I don't think either of those systems will go mainstream until the price drops a lot or a bunch of good exclusives come out.  The Wii U is barely in the affordable range by itself. I think the best things NIntendo could do now is actually advertise the system. I brought mine to work the other day and let people try it out (off tv-play only as we dont' have a TV there) and everyone was impressed, although almost all of them said " What's a Wii U?" That needs to change.

Only one person before me mentioned Bayonetta 2?  ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY!?!?!?

Bayonetta 2 should be UP there.  Also we can add in the rest of the games you all mentioned as being pretty good too. :P

NeonNinja
I'm not sure about it. I've enjoyed a few Platinum games and I tried the first one a couple of years ago and stopped playing it after about 30 minutes. The character Bayonetta just seemed unlikable and just a cheap way to make guys buy it. It might be possible that I judged it too early, but I rarely give up games that quickly so it whatever I played must not have been enjoyable at all.

Correct answer

We'll never see it

DJ_Lae

thats what people said about using the screen in vwii at all so excuse me if i dont agree

They didn't

The Wii could be streamed, anything can be streamed

But the streaming doesn't matter if you can't control it there too

Although I'm not too sure if they could ever get it to work either, you shouldn't really say we'll never see it as you don't really know. I actually think you may be right, but there's a definite possibility your wrong, we all can be wrong from time to time. Also it's not really a useless feature. It's like having a small TV you can put almost anywhere in your house to play Wii games. I doubt I'd ever play long sessions of Wii on it, but I could see the benefits of playing a few Wii games in another room without moving my Wii U.

I have a Wii but haven't upgraded to a WiiU. yet. Are the VC games on there much more updated or do they play better or are they just the same?

Bardock47

They are the same. Except

  1. You can use the gamepad to play
  2. you wouldnt have to launch the wii menu to play
  3. miiverse access for that game
  4. proper off tv play

Also the games are upscaled to 1080p instead of 480p (it does make a little difference) and it has remappable controls.

the japanese website says it will run in native 720p... bad news imo, i thought all nintendo games will be 1080p. i hope mario kart an smash will be at least in full hd.b4il

Actually I'm pretty sure almost all have been 720p. Wind Waker is 1080p but then again it is a remaster of a Gamecube game so it shouldn't require that much processing power. I'm okay with 720p, its better than almost all current gen games.

Holding B on gamepad takes me straight to Wii mode and yes I'm on HDMI.achilles614
Mine works about half the time. Not sure if there's a particular reason or if it's a glitch.

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]

So it's completely useless

The game will show up on the gamepad but then can't be played with the gamepad

So this is great for all the Wii U owners who didn't have a TV, all zero of them

thedude-

It's not useless. You can sit the gamepad in your lap and use a controller. It's not that bad. Obviously everyone wishes they could use the controller buttons for traditionally controlled games but it still comes in handy if you want to play Wii games while your TV is in use.  The update was pretty good but the one feature I really wanted, folders, didn't make it. :(

It is useless for him and probably wont be something I use very often myself, but I know that this is the sort of flexibility that will apply to some gamers setup very nicely.

Well he pretty much said it's useful to no one, if you read the post, which isn't true. Of course it's useless for Jaysonguy. He never plays his Wii U anyway. I can see the benefits of it. You could take the gamepad in another room and play Wii games now even if their is no TV. That will come in handy for some. I don't personally think it's something I'll use often, but I can envision times where it would be useful. Like if I wanted to play a Wii game upstairs easily without unhooking my whole system. Also I thought of the best use for it of all. Playing Mario Kart Wii online in the bathroom. Lol.
