Time has to be taken into account too. The PSP games have more depth so they require you to play them for at least 10-30 minutes (RPGs require more since the whole point f them is to immerse yourself into them). Even fast paced old-school action games like space invaders extreme requires you to pay attention for at least 5 minutes in the earlier stages.
I guess I'm talking about different noises. I've experienced dead drives and I barely notice the disc loading with my PSP. The dead noise is usually a bunch of clicks in between the disc spinning.
My friend's 3000 model would do that too. It suddenly stopped after a while. Why don't you try playing with the AC adapter and without the battery so you can see if it's the PSP itself.
Remote play, use psp as a flash drive ...and ....that's about it really. You can download everything for PSP on the PS3 and then transfer it to save time (buy a PSP game using the PS3 and then install). Remote play is a really cool feature though. You can play some PS3, PSN games and watch all your downloaded videos that have different formats using the PS3. And the entire PS3 browser can run on the PSP too.
I agree with britishdude. I'd like to point out that I own all Sony consoles before I say that Killzone 2 was terrible (in my humble opinion). It wasn't the weight, controls, graphics, style, online, offline, etc. It just felt VERY unsatisfying killing people. Not only is it an FPS, it's called freaking Killzone. I find it more satisfying hitting splicers with the stupid wrench in Bioshock for 3 hours. And yeah, Resistance 2 was much better.
