new computers are so expensive, where do you guys buy your hardware? i want a quad core processor because i work alot with 3ds max doing renders and stuff. i'll need to get a new motherboard first though :(.
i realized, when playing the orange box, that my computer runs it at pretty much the same fps on low settings as on high. unfortunately its running pretty badly- about 30 fps. i want to make it run more smoothly but reducing the settings has nearly no effect :(. i feel it may just be because my processor slows everything down or something like that. what do you guys think?

radeon x1300
pentium 4 3.0 GHz
768 MB or 1 GB ram. can't remember (not on my computer right now)
