@xeoneex66 @AndreasMarconi The evidence is that if you go to xboxone.com, you're presented with a godaddy page saying it's parked for free. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy owned a whole range of xbox related domains that he's not using. Besides, many people called the original XBox the Xbox One, so there's that.

@naji2014 Really? What was your defence? How did you explain owning the domain and not using it? What country was this in? How did you afford the legal fees? I'm not calling you a liar, I would genuinely like to know how you managed to cheat the system on this one.

@AmnesiaHaze @AndreasMarconi That's ridiculous. Developing a technology to the point that it is patentable takes a lot of time and money. Whether or not you decide it is commercially viable throughout it's development process is neither here nor there. You still need to prove to the patent office that you can actually do what you're saying you want to patent. Registering a domain name takes minutes, anyone can do it, and you don't need to prove squat.

@WoodenStick He'd have to have a site first. But that would cost him money to find somewhere to host it, which is clearly contrary to the squatter's code.

@emperiox @JoshDPU No, that's not capitalism. Capitalism would be buying the domains, building sites and monetising them. Hedging a bet that MS would want it in the future is opportunism at best.

@xeoneex66 Then you explain what other reason he had to register it, park it, and do nothing with it?

@TohouAsura That's completely and utterly incorrect. You cannot register a domain with someone else's IP and do whatever you want with it. Never mind the fact that he is quite clearly squatting, if he were to use the sites to defame MS and the XBox then MS would also be able to have the sites taken down. It's not about free speech, it's about protecting your IP. If someone registered a domain in your name and defamed you on it, you'd have exactly the same legal recourse.

@mrcharrio It applies to anyone. As long as you have a legitimate claim to a domain (a registered trademark for example), and the person who currently owns the domain cannot demonstrate that they are using it or intended to use it before you wanted it, ICANN will give it to you.
