One ounce is a very large amount of cannabis to smoke in one day. An average recreational smoker does not smoke anywhere near that amount daily unless they are selling, growing, or have alot of money to waste on bud. You must've been smoking from the time you woke up till the time you went to sleep at night. That much weed a day will almost certainly negate any positve effects cannabis has in treatment of schizophrenia. As for the genetic theory who know all I know is no one in my family has schizophrenia other then me.
And as for marijuana helping schizophenia I highly doubt it. I was a daily pot smoker until I came down with this illness. Now if I smoke it it's instant psychosis the stuff totaly makes me paranoid. I've read research studies that suggest those who smoke marijuana are 600 times more likely to get schizophrenia.

I belive marijuana played a big role in me getting schizophrenia. I was smoking 10 joints to 1oz a day when I became ill.

It is also important to point out that weed effects everyone differently. A good example of this is how cannabis effects people with anxiety disorder; some people suffer from anxiety symtoms that are far more severe after smoking while others find that cannabis is just as effective in treating anxiety as pescription drugs. The same may be true for schizophrenia.
