This isn't the best article, comparisons with non-interactive media have already been scrutinised and shown to be invalid. The interactivity of games force the gamer to empathise with the character they control and thus implicitly condone the actions and attitudes espoused by that character. I bought Duke Nukem 3D when it came out in 1997. It was a pathetic, short-lived mod of id's Doom II which wanted me to run around poorly designed, bug-filled levels shooting at sprites of "Beebop" from Turtles. It was still using the same technology as Doom II when Quake had already revolutionised the shooter sector with proper 3D modelling. If this game holds true to the same mentality as espoused by 3D Realms in 1997 it will be a weak copy of a current shooter with a few t!tty jokes (when even THAT has already been done recently with Bulletstorm). It may turn out to be brilliant, but I was stung by this overrated franchise 14 years ago and I won't be fooled again.

Wow, this article really is tenuous rubbish, I just wish that it's uselessness had been stated at the top so I didn't waste my time reading it. Alas it didn't... If Hotz had any REAL development ambitions he'd stick to PC programming or maybe Xbox's homegrown games (can't remember what they're called), but he hasn't. He's just a stupid little kid trying to show off and be rebellious. Well I for one hope Sony royally gut and stuff him, get him sent down so he can experience first hand what it's like to have his "equipment" used for a purpose he didn't intend... he'll be called Gina Hotz by the time he's back out.

Can we all stop whinging about snipers and campers, please? Here's why: a) Snipers in real life observe patterns in enemy behaviour and movement to get their kills. If you're too brainless to realise that someone is sniping you in the same few spots over and over again then you deserve shooting. Mix up your routes, be unpredictable, talk to your team-mates and either avoid those spots to force the sniper to move or deliberately flank and flush them. b) Campers sit in the same few spots all the time. You ran up some stairs and they blew your head off, so why not learn from that and NOT RUN UP THE STAIRS AGAIN? You know where they are and which angles they're covering, use that knowledge! Guerrilla have designed the levels to prevent campers finding perfect camping spots, it's up to you to find the alternate route/angles they designed! Seriously, snipers and campers only have an advantage if you give them it. I get caught by them too but I find outwitting them to be half the fun of FPS games. I want Guerrilla to introduce a spray can to KZ4 so I can graffiti all over their corpses... because teabagging is just sooo Call of Duty ;)
