As you know, I finally got my Wii hooked up to the internet a couple weeks ago. Since then, I bought 2000 Wii points and spent it on Internet Channel and two WiiWare titles. Here's my thoughts on both games.
My Pokemon Ranch: For some reason, a lot of people are bashing this game. They say the game is boring and has horrible graphics. Maybe I'm not a tough critic, but I don't think the graphics are that bad, and I don't think the game is that boring. The game is SUPPOSSED to show the Pokemon in Mii style. The game is a STORAGE SYSTEM. Of course the game's not going to be extremely fun, but it can be very fun to watch. Unlike Pokemon Box for the Gamecube, you actually get to see what your Pokemon are doing when they're in the box. It's a lot more entertaining than arranging the Pokemon sprites in fancy patterns IMO. (Ok, I'll stop ranting now. :P)
Anyway, this game is a good way to store Pokemon, and see how they react to other Pokemon. Besides being a storage system, it can help you complete your Pokedex. I usually don't try to complete my Pokedex, but this game got me to catch some Pokemon I probably wouldn't have otherwise. The music is relaxing, too. I recommend this if you have Diamond or Pearl, but if you don't, then you can just skip this game. It's basically another "add-on" to D/P, after all.
My Aquarium: As soon as I saw this game for sale in the Wii Shop channel, I couldn't wait to buy it. And the best part was, I had enough Wii Points to buy it. It was ONLY 500 WII POINTS! :D
This simulator is very much like a real fish tank, which means you probably won't spend too much time at once with this. Despite that, there's still a lot to this game. There's a lot of customization involved in making the actual aquarium, since there's so many backgrounds, decorations, and lighting effects you can choose from! The selection of fish you have at the beginning is a bit small, but you can unlock more fish as you go. The music selection is good as well, filled with all sorts of classical music. (There's even Christmas songs! :P) You can even set a "special date" for the fish to do a cute dance. The fish grow over time, so even if you have a lot of small fish, they'll get bigger as time passes. I've even heard the fish can mate in this game.
My Aquarium is NOT a game, so if you're not into the laid-back experience, you can skip this. But this is a very-well done simulator that I recommend if you like the idea of having your own virtual aquarium. And at only 5 bucks, it's a pretty good deal.
Well, that's my thoughts on my current WiiWare titles. BTW, do you even know that I have my Friend Codes posted? They're on the previous blog. :)
