I got an XBox a few weeks ago. It's in mint condition, all shiny and new, the drive doesn't get stuck, there are no hard drive errors, it's great aside from the fact that the drive has trouble reading games. For example, it runs my brand new copy of Halo pretty well, but all of my used games freeze, won't boot, music won't play, have extremely long loading times, etc. On my friends XBox, these games work perfectly every time. I tried getting them cleaned at GameCrazy, but they still have problems.

I'm debating on whether to return the XBox for a new one while I still can, one that'll potentially have a worse problem, or ordering Torx screwdrivers on eBay so I can open the darn thing and follow Llama's guide for cleaning the drive, which would probably (but may not) work. By the time I could get my hands on the tools I need, I'd be unable to return the XBox.

It looks as though it was once opened, as the area over the two screws has been neatly punched open with perfect sized holes, and the feet are glued on pretty well too. Any suggestions?

If you have a bad HDTV, there is a risk of the screen burning out prematurely.

My apologies. I meant Microsoft, not Sony. Anyways, this topic should be stickied to alert any HDTV users.

Some HDTV's will have certain issues in compliance with the X360 hardware. Sony will not cover this in the warranty, and the issue may arise if you adjust the brightness setting on certain JVC models too high. Light is an important factor, as he kills L Lawliet in Death Note. This as a result is what one would call an account suicide. I was just banned from the Wii Boards, and I felt like going out with a tragic bang by taking others with me. Banning won't keep me gone forever, as I will always be on this board as I have been from 1999. Some models will require additional additional adjustments in order to last for the intended lifetime. You should consult your hardware manufacturer for more details.

Most of what I want has probably been said, but in case Body Harvest, Blast Corps, anything from Rare, and Sega Saturn haven't been said (I wish Sega Saturn was possible), I'm saying them now.

I'm sure though that nobody has said Herzog Zwei yet. That'd be badass. Somebody has possibly said Beetle Adventure Racing in this topic, and in case they have I agree. Gauntlet IV wouldn't be bad either, has that been said?

Also, we could use Wii-Ware originals. I can think of:

Warlords (Unlikely now that it's coming to X360)

Team Buddies (It was a [now rare] PlayStation RTS game)

Bomberman (An online version with 8P local, possibly up to 12 with the DS)

Herzog Wii (A sequel with 4P support and online play)

Death Tank Wii (A sequel to the Saturn clasics with support for clasic and GC controls, 7, possibly 8P)

Pac-Man VS (quite likely after being on GC and DS, it'd use DS connectivity and 3 wiimotes, with the option for four DS without trading controllers)

Mario Bros Wiiware (like the 4P adaptation on the GBA, this'd be totally badass)

Puyo Puyo clasic (You may have heard of it's clones, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's AvalancheGhost Trap. 4P, possibly 8P, not Fever. This would have clasic gameplay, characters, and art-stylle

Metroid Hunters (like MP:H, but 4P local and online, with no single player campaign)

ToeJam & Earl DX (a 4P version of the 16-bit clasic with new features like the cancelled TJ&E2 sequel was going to have before being scrapped for a platformer)

M.U.L.E. (Like the old computer and NES game, or the remake Space Horse)

WiiBolo (adaptation of the clasic Macintosh game Bolo [WinBolo and LinBolo for WindowsLinux users] with online and 4P local play, it'd be badass. Also makes use of a microphone [or at worst, USB keyboard or macros].)

Obviously, new original Wiiware content is welcome, but anybody like those ideas? :D

I'm afraid I had already tried RazorG's method as well. That actually was the last one I tried, and it scratched the hell out of my disk, too. :(

I've heard great things too, that's why I tried it. I've heard it's better than Disk Doctors from some sites, but I guess some level of considerable technique is required, 'cause I've put a lot of time and elbow grease into trying to fix Morrowind, and it's actually gotten worse.

I've tried disk doctors, toothpaste, and of course my first resort of repeatedly taking them to GameCrazy to use their professional disk machine.

Most of my XBox games are used, and I picked up a whole bunch of non-working ones. I never had this kind of luck on PS2 or GC, is the XBox more sensitive to scratches? I tried using Brasso on Morrowind, as it was the least working one and many people suggest it's the best solution. I think I did it wrong, because the CD looks much worse and has many more light scratches.

Unless somebody here with experience can tell me (possibly with a video) exactly how to fix CD's with Brasso, I'm just going to call shenanigans and send them in the mail for more expensive, time-consuming, and likely more effective repair.
