I borrowed my friends router... for the X time :P... And downloaded the 3.0 Update.. but as before.. I wasn't able to get into the internet...
I reseted the router, and went into the configuration with the default user and password. I tried to manipulate anything that I tought would prevent me from getting online... I looked for the SPI feature to turn it off.. but it wasnt there... Anything I did...didn't turn out right. Looking online for my error code... I ran into the page.. Wiierror.com...
I saw heaven...
It said something about the DNS order... putting the one on the botton on top... and viceversa... DONE.... And there it was... the User Agreement. I yelled YEAH!.. as high as I could.. but as low as to not let anyone hear me :P...
After all this months... that was all that was to it.. Changing the order of two numbers.. I lost the Free Internet Channel thanks to that... Many month of frustration summed up on a sentence... Invert the DNS.
Well... There was no time for regrets.. I accepted the user agreement... and went on to the Address Book :D. It was great... the first thing I did was adding my email address to the list. I received the Email on my Inbox.. and now I could send text and pictures to My Wii :D...GREAT!
I added some more e-mails.. and subscribed my Wii to MiiPlaza.net... People there could send me messages straight to My Wii... and I also subscribed to the daily Newsletter there.. straight to my Wii too. I had StandBy on.. so I just turned of my Wii.. and when a message arrived.. the blue light turned on.. pretty neat :D.
I looked online for some Wii owners to add... some from MiiPlaza.net... now I had people to send messages and exchange Miis. :D
I changed my country to US (As my country , Dominican Republic, is not supported on the Shop Channel).. and logged on to the shop channel... Yeah!! For the first time I heard that music :P... And browed trought the game collection. I downloaded the Everybody Votes Channel.. and the Metroid Preview... everything was great! I used the News Channel and Forecast Channel like alot.. I went to see the news each day..
I have to say.. the Wii is a very valuable piece of hardware.. the Forecast, and News channel are both pretty cool! :P... Also is the message board and the Photo Channel...
But something was lacking... the Internet Channel.. ok.. sending messages is all fun.. for a day or two.. but I needed more :D..!!! I got tired of sending miself random emails full of nothing.. or simply sending pictures to see them on the PhotoChannel.. and my Mii Parade was empty (People.. put your Miis on MINGLE!)..
The thing is.. I live outside the US.. and my country is not supported on the ShopChannel... I tried using my mother's MasterCard.. wich you can use on Internet Sites.. but it looks like you cant on the Wii.. because the information is Confirmed.. and when It came to confirming the address of the card.. the process was a NO-GO.
I got a little frustrated... I talked to an Aunt on Puerto Rico.. who accepted to lend me her credit card number and info..
I introduced the number.. the secret code... her address... and hit Ok(Or whatever it says there).. As the "thing" spinned.. and My info was being verified.. I was very expectating.. and then.. Oh Yeah! Everything was correct and the transaction was done! :D... Yelled Yeah for a second time...Woohoo!
I innmediatly went to the WiiWare site.. and hit Internet Channel.. went to the process of OKs and that stuff.. and got to the Downloading-Mario Part :P... The download was veeeery slow.. because the PC was being used.. my mom was talking on the Vonage Line.. and I had my router poorly positioned.. but I didnt want to touch anything.... and loose my points or something :..I know it sound silly.. :P
It took an eternity.. but it downloaded!!!
I innmediatly went into the Internet Channel... OMG.. the Wii is great :P...Being able to surf the net.. on my living room.. on my own tv... I bookmarked somesites.. and went into everysite that I knew that was Wii-Friendly... I also went into all the websites that I usually visited... The Internet Browser is very intuitive... Is very nice and easy to surf around...
I watched some Youtube videos.. full screen on my Tv screen.. how neat :P.. I also went to some Pirate Movies sites.. like VideoHybrid.. and bam... I could watch full movies on my TV.
I tested out RedKawa's Wii Media Center X.. wich I was diying for... It was reaaally cool :P.. I could browse my PC.. watch videos and some other sort of stuff.. the only thing that didnt work was Music...bad...
I played some games on WiiCade... the Wii Api is absolutley great! Being able to play with your wiimote with the full buttons is unvaluable.. you can make full games... not only point and click.
And one great, great, tool.. are Online Instant Messagin sites...like eBuddy and ILoveIM. I found that eBuddy was the fastest one of the two.. and the more simple.. but ILoveIM was more intuitive.. because it features a windows enviroment.. were each conversation is a window, and is set appart from the others.. and the main windows.. just like you were chatting on Windows Messenger. :D. The only bad part.. is.. that everyone sees what you are typing and chatting :P. A very usable site... is Wiiminder.. When you go in there.. the site recognizes that you are on a Wii (Opera Browser) and opens a tabbed enviroment.. where you can add tabs.. and browse webpages individualy... the only bad part.. is that you can do forward of back actions on webpages... or bookmark them.. and web addresses have to be typed into the widget...you cant use the Opera part.... but that certanly adds something...
The loading times are really great.. they are not frustrating or anything... Well.. at least for someone having his Router 3 meters away from the Console :P.
I left WiiConnect24 ON... And continued to receive emails...photos... continued browsing the web .. till 2 days later when my friend asked his router back.. :D ... It was a very nice experience :D.. :P
