Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo

This year I had a job, money, the internet, with all those things I was able to see/download a bunch of movies that were quite good. Hot Fuzz, Hard Boiled, Happy Gilmore, Little Nicky, all this stuff I hadn't watched that turned out to be awesome.

And the movie I watched last night completely blew them away. Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, or The Girl That Leapt Through Time, has got to be the most imaginative, well-scripted, well-told stories I have ever watched in any entertainment form ever.

The movie tells the story of Makoto Konno, a highschool student who is always late for school, is clumsy and gets herself into predicaments she wishes never happened. On her way back from school one day, she flies down a hill on her bicycle, unable to stop for the speeding train arriving at the bottom of the hill. She crashes on the saftey barrier and nearly gets killed, nearly being because she found herself able to skip back in time from ever speeding down the hill. She later finds out she really can time leap, and uses it to her advantage, making her life easier for herself, unaware of the torment she's making others go through. The movie quickly becomes Makoto's realization of how her time leaping has made other people's lives worse and how her friend, who has feelings for her, is never able to tell her because she skips time to avoid the situation. She finds out things she never wanted to know, and realizes that she's permanently changed the course of her life by her decisions and she has to deal with the mess she's made.

But, I'm really bad at descriptions, so [link] here, read it there.

In all seriousness, this movie is incredible. The art is charming, the animation is great and the story, characters and development of both is simply stunning. Like, I really really liked Hot Fuzz, but this has sooo got to be my favorite movie I've watched this year.

Find it, download it, buy it, whatever, anyone who likes movies with stories that swing your emotions around and get you totally into the plot that the characters throw themselves into, watch this movie. Now.

Bloggy blog

So it's 1:30 AM, I have a rendez-vous at the Optometrist tomorrow at noon and I'm not really sure I want to go to bed. So what do I do to pass the time? Why, write a blog obviously!

It's great, because I had an Xbox 360, but I'm switching to a PlayStation 3 now. I feel kind of bad about it though. I mean, the 360 has offered me a ton of great games, some really cool friends online and some pretty fun features, but, ..., well, here's the story.

The time is Mid-June, I'm playing... what was I playing... Forza 2, yes. I'm playing Forza 2, customizing a Nissan R390 when my screen locks up. I reboot the 360, go back into the game, I start a race, the screen freezes again. I call Xbox Customer Support (Whom I had on Speed Dial I had to call so often) and they tell me I need to get it fixed. I had just got Forza 2, so I was kinda tweaked off, but okay. I send the console in, getting ready to play FM2 in a few weeks. The time is mid-July, I call Customer Support and they tell me they haven't recieved my console yet. I **** Alot. Mid-August, they tell me they just got my console. What the hell. So, lots of ****ing and other crap later, I get my console back around the 30th of August. Grr. But I'm happy! I get to play BioShock! I play 4 hours of BioShock, only to have the new, fixed console break. Total shutdown, it won't turn on. No power. Nothin'. Great.

Unfortunately for Microsoft, I swore to myself before I got this new console that if ever a new, repaired console was to break in the most stupid, ridiculous way, I'd give up and sell my 360 for a PS3... and that's what I did.

So now, I'm waiting on my PlayStation 3, of which I can't wait to check out Warhawk, skate and DiRT. I'm sad to see my 360 go, but I'm happy to see a new console walk in, one that the brand's previous legacy has been worshipped in this househole for many years. So when I get my PlayStation 3 ... what should be later today hopefully, if you're looking for one more dude on your PSN friends list, 'paramnesia', I'll see you online :)

Now I'm going to go to bed, I'm hella tired.
