This is an issue. If they run out, it means that their price is too low. They may be taking a significant loss for the market share. The bigger the loss, the bigger the risk. Since they have sold out already, I wonder if they went too low. They probably would have got by with $450.
We need to stop people from using the word 'gamer'. It's a label that has no real meaning anymore, except to label a minority group in a negative light.
AFAIW a major part of the problem is that network load for new games is typically preloaded, so companies need to spend a lot of money creating a network that will survive the first week, but then have excess network capacity after this time.
There's an opportunity here for someone to provide network services under contract, so the load is balanced across a number of major titles from different publishers. It's a wonder that sony and m$ don't offer these services for these publishers. It would save their publishers a lot of money, and make their platform an attractive offering for publishing on.
Will I be able to download a copy of the stream. or will the stream be made available soon after the fact? It's going to be difficult to be at home at this time, and I'd like to watch the full announcement before I start reading the reaction to it.
@okassar the ps3 will still sell strong until 2016. Maybe even further. This is the same as how the ps2 was released around 6 years after the launch of the ps1. Production of the ps1 didn't stop until 2004, giving it a 10 year life.
