So in summary, if im going to be buying a PS3, i may as well buy one now, where i live. And does this mean that in the future there will be a much better PS2 game emulation on all PS3's?

Hi, i don't post here very often, but i'm in a bit of a quandary...

Here's my situation, i have the money to buy a PS3, i want to buy a PS3, but obviously there isn't exactly a great range of launch titles available. I do own alot of PS2 games, and unfortunately my PS2 broke quite a while back, so i saw buying a PS3 as a good way to be able to play all these games i own which i previously couldn't play.

However, apparently the backwards compatibility for the PS3 isn't exactly great, and even worse for the UK model of the PS3. So i was wondering if one of you knowledgeable folks could tell me if it'd be worth getting a UK PS3, or possibly importing one from America. I know that the PS3 has up-datable firmware, so will this eventually fix the UK PS3? or is it that they've just decided to scrap the backwards compatibility for the European model (which i don't see why they made it any different to the US / *** version in the first place :?)

If anyone could maybe offer some suggestions i'd appreciate it. (also, does the US ps3 have 2 pronged plug or 3 pronged? i dont know :p)
