Nah, i've grown AWAY from JRPGs in my teen years (Before I was 13, I played Final Fantasy, Dragonquest, Chrono Cross, etc.) and onto more action-orientated games (Such as Mass Effect, Halo, Half-life 2, and Oblivion) mostly because it took way to long to get anywhere in those old games and i've become alot more of a "Pick it up and play" gamer where I dont wanna spend alot of time just learning the story, when I could just be playing a fun game from the start and they can explain the story along the way.
Well, Gears has horrible bullet lag, host advantage, and the ability to shoot through some walls and through some covers, so I quit when Halo came out. Halo 3 uses Bungies own matchmaking system, with ranks and whatnot, but gears does have a steep learning curve, and I would play with your friends for you to get better at it.
