I just spent a couple days playingRatchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. I have probably put on 2 or 3 pounds in a couple days. NOT GOOD! It's time to hit the gym before my family notices that this work-out-o-holic is off balance :). Enough about me! Ratchet & Clank!!!! Cute!!!
Insomniac did such a wonderful job bringing life to an old franchise, injecting it with the same funny humor and the most beautiful graphics that I have ever seen!
I want to hug Ratchet! He looks so furry and fuzzy on the screen like a teddy bear. Clank has the most cute personality andI just want to pinch his face and carry him around.
My experience with this game has been astounding. Not once did I ever get bored (well, I'm lying, space battles were ZzZzzz), and the controls felt just as nimble as the ps2 Ratchet games. I was not a big fan of Deadlocked so I was pleasantly suprised when this game reminded me the most about Going Commando (my favorite Ratchet & Clank game in the series).
Captain Quark is still the vain egotistical jerk that he's always been, only he seems to be getting more gross looking. lol. For some reason, with the good graphics. I notice the tight spandex that he's wearing and it really grosses me out. I get the strange impression that he smells horrible, like butt, since he has a wedgy the whole time. ewww!
There were a couple times when I was haunted by the dying cries of enemies in the game. When you go to Fastoon those weird bird-lizard guys make a horrible scream when you kill them. It made me a bit sad to hear it. I tried to pass that level as fast as I could.
The groovinator is HILLARIOUS! I love throwing it out and watching EVERYTHING dance. Bosses dance, enemies dance, EVERYTHING! I also noticed that when you throw the ball out, clank even dances along! CUTE!
I've finally beat the game and I would have to say it's worth a 9.5/10. 0.5 off because there were some parts I found boring and pointless (uninteresting gameplay), like space fighting and that ball cycle. I loved the motion of them and the graphics, but the design of the gameplay was pretty boring. :(. And, not that it matters that much at all, but I didn't find upgrading the weapons to be as rewarding as the previous ratchet games. The effects had essentially the same look to them. They didnt' change color or size as you became more powerful. This is no big deal, but on top of that, it seemed like going up a level was too easy. Very picky of me, but I wanted to justify why it's not a perfect 10.
I was recently introduced to the world of online gaming magazines. I normally get my information from physical magazines, so I'm a bit late in getting "with it". :) One thing I don't understand though, is the score of 7.5. Not just by Gamespot but by Game Revolution as well. Both reviews focused on one thing and didn't really give me the impression of why the game deserved the score. I don't mind accepting that a game gets a particular score, but I would like for it to be justified. I saw no such justification in the review material. Oh well, maybe that's how online journalism is, I'm not up to speed yet.
Ill try to write more blog entries soon. In the mean time, I'm going to try for the skill points in Ratchet!!!! Then, time to hit the gym (for a year :( ) lol.
