Updates don't ruin PS3s. People ruin PS3s and blame it on the update. I have 4 PS3s all different models and they've all been perfectly fine after many updates. Take care of you PS3 and use a strong ISP signal and it'll treat you well.

Tahnks for all the advice. By the way, why do you need 4 PS3's? :P

Congratulations. I would go ahead and update. Every time there's a firmware update there's always a rash of topics saying it messed up their system. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I do have a question for you though. You just bought a PS3, but why didn't you purchase any of it's exclusives? It's just struck me as odd that you only got multi-platform releases.Canvas_Of_Flesh
Well I'm definetley going to get Uncharted 1 and 2 but actually I only got FIFA 10 and borrowed the other two games :P they didn't have that any games I wanted in the store that time.

So i just got my first ps3 last wednesday. It's a slim, and got modern warfare, assassins creed and FIFA 10 :D,

It came with firmware 2.76 and I'm wondering about updating to 3.01 since I've seen some people sying it messes up their system. Does that only apply to the fat PS3 or to the slim aswell? Any help appreciated.

I think that the next PSP they'll make will be a PSP2 with two analogue sticks, better graphics gameplay etc.

No youtube. It sucks. I mean whats the point in having wi-fi on a portable system if you cant watch videos and browse flash sites.
