On the road

Wii under $250? ITWire and IGN seem to think so, but I won't trust that bit of "news" until GameSpot posts the story. Oh wait, BusinessWeek, MSNBC, Sydney Morning Herald all have the story. I figured this sort of news would be on the front page of at least the Wii section.

Figured I should mention, Chicago to Miami will start later this afternoon. I hope to survive the heat of the South.

Edit: Look at that, the Last Word shows <$250.  My bad.

Gaming on the back-burner? Huh???

What with the changing jobs, and the planning of the 1st Annual East of the Mississippi Triangle Road Trip, I've resigned myself to very little PC gaming and maybe one or two songs on Guitar Hero every couple of days or so.

I think I'm weaning myself off the smack that is Gaming at least long enough to be able to drive solo from Detroit to Chicago, Chicago to Miami, Miami to Boston, Boston to Detroit in 11 days. Yeah, I'm nuts, but I'm getting to the age when I won't be able to pull crazy stuff like this out of my hat on a whim. And I might even record some of it once I figure out how to securely mount my consumer-quality Samsung camcorder to my dashboard.

That gets me to wondering if all tripods allow for 360 degree rotation, in which case I'll be able to get footage of the road in front of me in addition to my talking head pointing out the wacky stuff I find on the road.

At the least, it'll give everyone on here the ability to check out parts of the US that they may not otherwise be able to.

At this point, I'm just hoping I don't wimp out and stay home for some good old-fashioned book reading. Just bought "Nihongi", "Foucault's Pendulum" and "The Thinking Fan's Guide to the World Cup" and the mini-vacation in between jobs might be just long enough for me to plow through those three books.

Well, I can look forward to no longer having to answer the phone at work with the cryptic sentence, "Authorization number, please?" Four years of that will drive anyone batty.
