I'd consider the Dreamcast a flop, but it was an amazing system with amazing games.Don't build your hopes up too high for those games (if you can see what a 360 can do).
PS3 could be a steaming load of brown poop for all I care, if it plays FFXIII and MGS4 (read: the games I want) it will be worthwhile.
Sorry, but I'm a hater hater.

[QUOTE="BalancedOpinion"][QUOTE="chrismunx"]Somehow I doubt that SE sees its future endeavors bounded by the limitations of handheld consoles, simply because this would make a few american cows happy.Uh...are you blind people? Let's look at one major fact about SE lately. Their latest installment if FF went to the DS. And now the next big thing is DQ9 for the DS? Hrm. So why would SE put DQ9 on the DS (obviously for the userbase) when they could of gone down the same road of putting it on the PS2 (which again, obviously has a much bigger userbase). Let's ponder this shall we?
360 FF? Not a chance in hades.

The bottom line is money, and the developing market is next generation home consoles - you know, those things with decent graphics and sound you play with in the comfort of your armchair.
If Se likes money, a 360 FF is a sure thing.
didnt a square exec say that they'r not gonna put all their eggs in one basket this gen?

Japanese developers like to cater their fellow man in Japanese games. Since FF just happens to be just that, I'm willing to bet the 360 is just a passing thought in the back of SE's mind. But if you want to talk money, then SE would go the route of developing for Nintendo. Not PS3 or 360. But then that would just put SE's talent a step back as far as developments go with their teams. But let's look at possible region winners.
Japan: Wii, PS3, 360
USA: 360, Wii, PS3
Europe: Unknown
With this current state of things with these three major regions, I see a fair amount of balance within the 3 consoles. This of course will change by a year's time.
That's a little disingenuous. Here's the proper state of play:360 11 million units (25% in Europe).
Wii 3.5 million units
PS3 900K units
approx.
Now...
I really and sincerely doubt that SE is going to dispense with all that unique graphical flair any time soon, unless of course they want to lose their brand reputation. I also doubt that they fail to notice some heavy hitters moving into to snap up that virgin 360 territory, using THEIR style.
It's really very straightforward. The 360 has phenomenal attach ratios -- even in Japan. Look at BD. 1/3 of the user base snapped it up -- more than Resistance's 1/6 of its user base. Now, FF traditional sold approx 60% of its units outside Japan. Why should that change now?
The market still exists, it's just the names of the players that have changed.
FF13 will come to the 360 because that's where the money will be.

White engine is designed for PS3.Trouble is when SE realize the 360 is tailor made for their FF13 vision things might change ...
Past history.
Blu-ray space.
FF13 is probably the least likely of any PS3 3rd party exclusive to come to 360. DMC4 and/or MGS4 is much more likely.... even though they probably won't either.

... like the proprietary game engine of choice.
[QUOTE="BalancedOpinion"][QUOTE="XTy"][QUOTE="BalancedOpinion"][Half of all 360 owners probably owned a PS2 last gen. That's 5 million JRPG lovers right there. Also you make a huge mistake if you think it didn't hurt Xbox1 users that they were starved of JRPGs last time round. IMO a company like SE will make MORE money selling their fare to Xbox users than to its traditional market. XTy
Where do you get this stuff?
M$ was bragging a bit ago that 50% of the 360 buyers are new...but they had no evidence, users like me just don't register, either of my units.
So, that being said, and assuming M$ is right (Which they aren't as it is impossible for them to actually know how many are NEW to the Xbox Brand), doesn't mean they are PS2 users.
It's an assumption. Assumptions require no proof. You're supposed to accept the likelyhood. FYI MS can qunatify who buys their product through warranty registrations etc.; even their website surveys would help in determing those numbers. Those are far from accurate and futhermore I haven't taken done any warranty stuff for either of my 360's, no registrations for either of my purchased 360's, and no Surveys'
How did M$ tabulate my 2 360's? What about my cousin's and Brother's 360? they didn't either...The truth is they don't know, and they guessed and counted people like me as NEW to the 360 brand.
That being said, assuming they were right somehow (Which they aren't, My family and I are living proof) the new users could be new to the gaming sector or from the GC market. All supposed 50% couldn't be PS2 customers.
You don't have to have any input in order for them to come up with a number. They'll announce their findings, accurate or not. If 50% of the people who did return their warranty slip or who registered online admit to not owning an Xbox1 then M$ would be telling the truth. Also it doesn't take much to suppose those non Xbox users were PS2 people seeing the PS2 userbase outnumbered Xbox1 4:1. Is it more likely that people who never owned a console make up that 50%, or that the 1% market share for lesser console owners do? I don't think so.The likelyhood is that the majority of that 50% owned a PS2.

My friend wishes he could get Ninja Gaiden on his PS2. Tough luck. A Popular system doesn't have everything. 360 is a joke in Japan for FF to be even considered on there. PS3 will have some system selling games. Get over it,.Riviera_PhantomYour choice of words is unforunate as only someone idiotic would continue to cling to the hope of a PS3 revival. The system is going down. Money and loyalties are often incompatible. All talented software houses know when to jump ship and the signs say SE is preparing to do just that.
[QUOTE="flipknoc"]they brought FFXI to the XBOX and it miserably failed. square-enix won't go through that again.eastside49er
So you are comparing a weak FF MMO that had been out for over 2 years before it hit the 360 to a legit sequel?
As far as the topic goes, no. Nothing is stopping them from bringing FF13 to the 360. Doesn't mean it will happen. In fact I doubt it will.
I'll go on the record and say that if SE loves money FFXIII will appear on the Xbox360.
