Same as marktg... I had received an emblem for Reader's Choice 2007 and several weeks ago it disappeared. Waited a while to see if it would return but nope.

Obviously... regardless of rumors, regardless of what they call it.... obviously Nvidia will have a new high end part coming soon. It's been over a year since the 8800GTX and the ultra was a pretty minor jump. So for sure... there will be a new high end part soon... probably in the next few months. My bet is on a 8900GTX rather than a 9800GTX... but what's in a name? No matter what they call it you can bet it will be a huge leap over the 8800GTX or Ultra.... the 8800GT is nearly as fast as the GTX and it's not even a double wide card. The next double wide will be wicked fast I'm sure.

It should work. Worked fine in HL2 ep. 2 and Portal. You probably need to install proper gamepad drivers and enable right settings.... still, as much as I love playing with a gamepad (and 360 gamepad kills logitech btw) I can't imagine playing TF2 with one. Your accuracy does count for more than just sniping and it will be WAY sharper/faster with a mouse.

The Dell 2407 is a sweet monitor. It was the best for the price when I bought it but not sure about today. Samsung might make a better 24 for quality/cost now. I'm lookin at the SyncMaster 245B..

For about $550... I think that's the way I'd go today.

You bet, that's why I said, 'not sure about movies'... I just mentioned that since I've heard it might be an issue - but obviously not in all cases, or with blu-ray anyway.

A lot of this will also depend on your display - HDTV, monitor... 720p or 1080p, etc.

Not sure about the movies, you may need to consider HDCP - hi-def content protection - all devices must comply... But, for games, you'll probably want to upgrade your video card to ATI's 2900xt or one of Nvidia's 8800 series cards if you want to play upcoming games that compare to content on the PS3. A new video card will make your old games look nicer too; something to consider about the PC as a platform in general - games you already own get better as you upgrade and replace hardware.

I'm thinking you probably won't notice a huge performance difference with 3GB over 2. I hear Crysis will take advantage of a 64bit OS though, and if you were running that I would say go for 4GB. It's probably not a good idea to mix and match your ram the way you're thinking, but if you do add another Gig I would definitely make sure to get memory with the same timings/CAS latency.

Man... hate to say it, but I did something like this with a machine I had in the past... it never ran very reliably.

Running it with the older power supply could mess things up. You don't need to use an 8pin+24pin connector with that motherboard, but I'm pretty sure you DO if you want to run it with a dual-core cpu... which you're trying to do.

Definitely make sure you are using a top notch power supply that meets the latest specs, 24+8pin and hopefully SLI aswell. The main parts are nice; don't risk them to bad power.

I havn't played the Crysis demo, so I don't know about that, and the final game will perform better no doubt. I think you will find though that at 1280x1024 or 1650x1080 you can play most games at max settings but you won't be making the most of the GTX. The 8800 GTX will play most current games at max settings with acceptable or better frame rates at 1920x1200 (or 1920x1080 on an HDTV). So, to make the most of that card with current games I would say go even bigger.
