3D seems to be the feature to be given the almighty push over the next few years, what with more films being released in 3D, and consoles such as the 3DS and PS3 having 3D capabilities. But is it worth it? Presently, I'd say a resounding no. Not only are 3DTV's very expensive but i imagine it would take several years for video game developers to even begin to try and incorporate 3D technology in such a way to make it worth it.
Is 3D just a phase, as it was in the 80's? Is it perhaps feasible only in films? Most likely it is too early to tell. One thing that is for certain is that 3D will be the next era we are bombarded by from the major media companies. Improved technology has definitely helped 3D make a statement. Just one slight note to these companies who want to push for 3D with their TV's however, and that is......make it reasonably priced! I am perhaps more likely to be offered a free operation to turn me into some crazy half elf/half dragon hybrid, than this actually happen. As always though, apart from those hardcore people who have more money than they know what to do with, not many are going to go all 3D ready when it costs so much. Of course, as more 3D media is released and more 3DTV's are, coupled together with more cost effective manufacturing, the price will become more reasonable.
For the time being however.....I'll stick with my pleasant 2D games 8)
