So last year was a year full of some great games, as we say good-bye to 2009, I decided to make my Top Ten of 09!
So basicly this will only include games i have actully played and probably a few spoilers so be warned! Ok time to begin!
Number 10: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Some people are going to say, "Number 10! You've gotta be kidding!" but to be honest, I didn't really think this was all that amazing, don't get me wrong it is a solid 8.5 - 9.0, but still, it felt like it was missing something. The online was fun, but really just felt like Call of Duty 4. The Campaign was very good, but with a plot that had more holes than swiss cheese. Ok so in a nutshell, U.S.A. gets blamed for a terriorst attack in Russia, Russia gets mad, Russia does what we thought they would during the Cold War: Invades the United States! Mean while behind the scenes a task force fights in other places, they free a prisoner from a gulag! Just one though. Oh no, good guy turns bad! Blah, blah....
Spec-Ops mode is fun! So yeah, number 10.
Number 9: Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition
Before you say anything, Red Alert 3 did come out in 2008. But the PS3 version wasn't until 2009. Also I did love this version even more than the PC, mainly due to the command stick interface, which I loved. Also I found the story to be very cheesy, hilarious, and just down right fun. Basicly, the Soviet Union goes back in time and kills Einstein. Which leads to a victory in a war with the Allies of Europe and The United States, but what have those pesky Japanese been up to? The Japanese (or Empire of the Rising Son) launch a full scale invasion of the Soviet Union. Dolphins with weopens on there heads, Russian sniper women, giant mechs, an attack on Pearl Harbor in reverse. Yup Red Alert is back, and better than ever. It is my number 9!
Number 8: Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City
I honostly don't know why this is on here, it controls terrible. Graphics are showing age. But despite all of its flaws, it was a great game, this is actully mostly going out to The Ballad of Gay Tony. This year the Xbox really didn't have an amazing lineup. This is actully one of the only Xbox exclusives on the list. Anyway, gta is still awesome, so this should speak for itself.
Number 7: Left 4 Dead 2
Bought it on Steam, at first I really didn't expect much. The first Left 4 Dead wasn't incredible. This one was much better. Really good new boss infected, and also some great new characters, with Nick being my favorite, some great new locations, and of course very fun co-op. The source engine was begining to show it's age during Left 4 Dead 1, but now there are some great improvements to the engine, better lighting and shadows, character models look fantastic and where is HL:E3? Come on Valve start working on gravity guns and puzzles already!
Number 6: Prototype
Man this is an ugly game. The graphics are just plain awful! But of course what other game can you make spikes come out of the ground just to kill some innocent citzens of New York how have been horribly disfigured by a viral spread? Oh did I mention the tanks.... tanks! The story on the other hand is a bit of hit and miss, I litterly can't say anything else about the story because it is so full of stuff that i don't know where to begin. But on the other hand, it is kind of like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in that sense since it is kind of hole filled. But still it does hold the number 6 spot.
Number 5: Resident Evil 5
I assume you were expecting InFamous? Well of course, InFamous and Prototype go hand-in-hand, but i think this should take number 5: Resident Evil 5 (hey thats ironic!) Better than Resi 4? No! Better than Darkside Chronicles? Duh! Well Resi 5 was great if you were a fun of the series before Resi 4 (like me!) I'm not afraid to admit I am a Resident Evil fanboy, and this was a great one storyline wise. It revealed what has happened to Chris after Rockfort, Jill after Raccon City, Wesker after Rockfort, Barry after... oh wait he is still MIA. So the co-op is good, oh just go look at the Resi 5 gamespot review! Resident Evil 5 scares its way into number 5!
Number 4: Assassin's Creed 2
Murder, sex, you watch your own birth. No this isn`t grade 10, or video`s your dad keeps under his bed, it`s Assassin`s Creed II. This time around you play as Desmond and Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who now has beat Altaïr ibn La-Ahad for longest name in a video game ever. This time around the game`s free running is better, graphics are better, and killing is about twice as good. Fun Fun Fun!!! My Number 4!
Number 3: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
I played The PSP version, this is my first and only portable game on this list. But this game is just so much fun. It goes back to the old top ****of the original series. This is probably the best Grand Theft Auto since Vice City. The Story is superb and the whole game is just so fantasticly presented to the player. You will feel connected to the characters and actully care when someone dies. As for flaws.... nah I can`t think of any. This game steals a car and drives its way into the top 3!
Number 2: InFamous
Surprised it`s this high? Do not be surprised because I can only explain this game in one word: Wow!
Buy it! This is good stuff! Number 2!
And my Game of the Year: Uncharted 2 Amoung Thieves
Story! Online! Chloe`s butt! Sulli! Elena! Jeff! Flynn! Nathan Drake is back, and he is just as much an awesome character as before. This game is almost to good. This is one of those games that seriously shows off what the PS3 is capable of. Nathan is back but this time he is hunting for Marco Polo`s lost fleet... at first, and after a couple plot twists, he is all over he world fighting in stunning HD. Online makes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 look like a bargin bin game. With perks, skins, ranks, taunts. I love this game and it seems like everyone does. Uncharted 2: Amoung Thieves is down right amazing!
That concludes my GOTY awards. If anyone ever reads this please leave a comment and tell me what you think of my list.
