I'll point out that many people can take something like this for the portability, and at other times hook it up to as big a monitor as they want (hell, hook it up to an big screen TV). I can see this being used by people who need a lightweight device, but who want to game, but don't want or can't have both an ultrabook and a gaming rig. I agree, the 650M isn't a crazy strong video card.
I do have to question the ranking of the 650M as being in 3rd place in terms of raw Kepler mobility power, as there's the 660M, 670M, 675M, and 680M... and there are different gigabite versions of some of those cards.
Explain to me, Mr. Brown, why it shouldn't be ranked 5th.
Think I'll pass on this. It's been my experience that, although better in than in the past, much better, Gamespot still tends to overrate MMOs. This is at least partly due to the need to get a review in, when it can sometimes take months for the full flaws of an MMO to become apparant. To those who are having fun with it...have fun with it.
The number gets even worse when you remember that you're going to have a lot of people who subscribed for 6 months leave at that point (7 months after the freebie month is over). Meaning this number will drop even further.
Since moment one, it's been clear that EA/BW has been doing everything they can to pump up the numbers. pulling every trick they can think of out of the hat to try and get folks to be impressed by their numbers. Game's on sale at best Buy for $29.95, atm. The extra month, advertising everywhere. It reeks of desperation.
Biased coverage? No, this isn't coverage of AoC, where reviewers totally lost their minds with favorable reviews. True, reviewers go ga-ga over Blizzard products and WoW. Why? Diablo. Grandslam homerun. Warcraft II. Grandslam homerun. Warcraft II Expansion. Grandslam homerun. Diablo II. Grandslam homerun. Diablo II Expansion. Grandslam homerun. Warcraft III. Grandslam homerun. Warcraft III Expansion. Grandslam homerun. Starcraft. Grandslam homerun. Starcraft Expansion. Grandslam homerun. World of Warcraft. Uber Grandslam homerun. WoW: The Burning Crusade. Ubder Grandslam homerun part 2. Gee, should the biggest MMO game of all time get lots of attention when it trots out a new expansion? Should the company that has put out some of the the best computer games for the last 15 years, which has put out some of the biggest hits in that time, get attention when it puts out a game? Only a biased body would say no. Is Blizz taking actions to avoid any undercutting from competitors? Of course! It's called good business. WAR will stand on its on merits. WoW has been standing on its merits as the one true king for 4 years, and won't lose that spot simply because of the jealousy of posters.
Eye candy is dandy...but gameplay is where it's at. No, WoW sin't meant for elitest types who have the fanciest gaming rig on the planet. So far, all these great visual games have been pure sugar candy while WoW has remained filet mignon. We now know that WoW is looking at a new graphics engine for the game, possibly with the next expansion. Even so, let's face it, WoW isn't going to shift to graphics which only a million gamers can play: They're going to make sure that they keep an easy graphic entry level to maximize their available base (There's a huge and every growing graveyard full of games which haven't thought of such business matters). Visuals? The visual quality of all 3 WoW opening cinematics blows the pants off of any other MMO's opeing cinematics.Of course, we don't play cinematics, but cinematics are a show case of the visual creativity of the game developer. Ask yourself what that might mean, hmmm? No matter how the graphics might get ramped up in the future, WoW will always keep it's distictive visual style...which is good. But anyone who prefers visuals over gameplay will experience what happens to all candy addicts: a sugar rush followed by that empty hunger, and a belief that somewhere there has to be candy that's better than that ol' filet mignon called WoW. The plus side: They never get lost, as we just follow the long, long trail of candy wrappers.
