[QUOTE="BearishSun"]

I completely agree with the first post, I just saw mercenaries 2 and spore reviews and I mean wtf? Spore should have gotten at least 9, and mercenaries got a freaking FIVE??

I've been a gamespot user for a long while but I think i'm gonna find another site for reviews from now on.

Gamespot you messed up big time.

LordAndrew

Did you read the text of the reviews? Play the games? If not, you have nothing to argue.

Oh, and you should never use only one source for game reviews. Never.

Yea I played both games and I don't agree with the reviews.
I chose gamespot for my reviews because previously they rated games as I would have rated them, but now they just don't know what they're talking about.

EVE Online is the newest and best looking/most populated sci fi mmog ATM, but it just didn't appeal to me.
SWG is still "alright" to play even after the upgrade, there is plenty to do, with space combat and everything, and there are also a lot of people playing, enough to keep the chat going and city cantinas half full.
Anarchy Online was the best of it's time, I spend amazing amount of time playing it. It's way too old now I guess, but definately worth a shot. Such good memories here...
Neocron 2 is a great game with FPS elements(which really makes it unique and cool), and it's pretty damn decent considering it's made by uber small team of people. Only lack is that there are not enough players.

Also, CoH/CoV is kinda sci-fi, but if you didn't like WoW because of cartoonish gfx I doubt you're gonna like the superhero look either.

 Keep an eye out in the future for Tabula Rasa and Star Trek Online, and someone mention Firefly MMO (haven't heard about this one yet).

No doubt in my mind it was Gothic I and II.

Other worth mentioning, really close to the top of the list, are Fahrenheit and Dreamfall The Longest Journey.

The games you listed cannot be compared really. Galactic Civilizations II is more about building your empire, and is a strategy game. X3 is very oriented on trading and building your economy, but you still get to fly a ship and shoot it, although this game requires alot of dedication and patience, I don't suggest it for someone new to the genre. Freespace is your best bet, because that the game people think when they say "space sim", not only that, it's definately the best one. I suggest you try out Freespace 2 first, then Independance War 2, then if you like those, play their first editions, because they really aren't that much outdated, and are still very enjoyable(I heard somewhere that abandonware is now "legal", so you might try some of those sites, I doubt you can still find them in stores). One of the newer games I would suggest is definately Freelancer. Those are the three games you must try.

Also, there is the newest game Darkstar One, although it is fun, it gets a boring fast. Awesome cinematics tho. Or you can wait for Star Trek: Legacy coming out next week.
