Scene 9
(at the quad Rebecca is sitting on the lawn reading a book. Kevin is seen a distance away walking towards her.)
Kevin: Hey Rebecca! (he sits down next to her)
Rebecca: Hey Kevin! What's up?
Kevin: Nothing. Just thought you and Elyssa probably would want a break from homework. Speaking of Elyssa, where is she?
Rebecca: She said she needed to work on dance stuff. Also I think she was super-excited about her date tomorrow.
Kevin: With who?
Rebecca: One of the guys in her hip hop cla ss, Joe.
Kevin: Oh really...Give me a sec, I'll be right back.
(Kevin stands up and walks a short distance away. He takes out his cell phone and dials a number.)
Kevin: Hey man. How's it going with hip-hop and stuff?
(voice on phone): Good. Why?
Kevin: I heard you have a date for tomorrow.
(voice on phone): Oh, yeah. Her name is Elyssa and she's a really good dancer in my cla ss How do you know her, you just transferred here.
Kevin: Remember that girl I told you about? Rebecca?
(voice on phone): Yeah...
Kevin: Well Elyssa is her best friend. They've been showing me around.
(voice on phone): Dude, we should totally double date tomorrow.
(A.N. the next day is a Friday)
Kevin: I don't know man, I just met Rebecca.
(voice on phone): Seriously dude, you've been talking about her ever since you got here.
Kevin: I know but...
(voice on phone): (interrupts him) But nothing. Just do it and let me know.
Kevin: Okay. I'll see you at our dorm room later.
(voice on phone): See ya.
(They hang up, Kevin walks back to Rebecca)
Rebecca: (jokingly) That was longer than a sec.
Kevin: Oh well... Hey do you want to go out tomorrow night?
Rebecca: (looks surprised) Um...sure... yeah.
Kevin: Cool.
Rebecca: Yeah. Hang on a sec. Be right back.
(Rebecca takes out her phone and walks away while dialing a number)
Rebecca: Hey Elyssa! Guess what just happened. Kevin asked me out for tomorrow night...Yeah...Do you want to double date?...Okay, I'll tell him...Okay...See ya.
(Rebecca hangs up and walks back to Kevin.)
Rebecca: Is it all right if we double date with Elyssa and her date?
Kevin: Sure. Since I already know her date it shouldn't be weird.
Rebecca: (looks at Kevin looking surprised) You do?
Kevin: Yeah, he's actually my brother.
Rebecca: Wow, this is a really small world.
Kevin: Yeah. Well the real reason I transferred here was because Joe said he was having so much fun here. And I wasn't having fun where I was.
Rebecca: What does he major in?
Kevin: He's also majoring in music also. He's actually supposed to be a sophomore but he skipped a grade. Now he's in our grade.
Rebecca: Wow. He must have been a smart kid.
Kevin: Oh yeah. He always seems to bring that up.
Rebecca: So do you have any other brothers?
Kevin: Well actually I have two other brothers. Nick, who's a freshmen here, and Frankie. He's only a freshman in high school though.
Rebecca: Does Nick major in music too?
Kevin: Yeah. We're actually in a band together.
Rebecca: Cool. How's it going?
Kevin: Well we haven't got anything like a recording contract yet, but we're still hoping.
Rebecca: I would like to come see you guys sometime.
Kevin: Sure. We actually have practice in a couple days.
Rebecca: Cool.
Kevin: Well I am starving. I think it's time for dinner.
Rebecca: I think you're right.
Kevin: You want to go with me?
Rebecca: Oh... well, actually me and Elyssa were going out tonight. But I'll see you tomorrow. Text me later? (Kevin nods his head) Okay see ya later.
Kevin: See ya.
(Rebecca walks toward her dorm, while Kevin walks toward his)
(A.N. If you didn't notice earlier Kevin shares a room with Joe)
This will be the last one for a few days, this is all I have written as of now. It is wayyyyyy too hot here, like 92 degrees (Farenheit), so I am way too hot to do anything. There will probably be another later this week or maybe next.
