Yep, why buy a 2000$ Alienware laptop when you can build a desktop with the same power for much less money? There I agree with you.

But then again, most people don't buy Alienwares. And those that play games on laptops mostly do it because they can't afford to buy a laptop + a gaming pc. So stop assuming that everyone has enough money to support gaming on a powerful desktop.

[QUOTE="Benfica2"]

[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"] Straight from Wikipedia: "Following the critical acclaim it received on its release, Grand Theft Auto IV has received numerous awards from various critics and publications. It received several Game of the Year awards, from gaming media outlets such as Spike TV,[202] Giant Bomb,[197] Kotaku,[199] and GameTrailers,[187] as well as mainstream publications, like The New York Times,[205] the Los Angeles Times,[206] and Time magazine.[207] The game has garnered over 40 Game of the Year recognitions from major publications, more than any other game that year. GTA IV also received seven nominations at the 5th British Academy Video Games Awards (BAFTA Games Awards),[209] and three nominations at the 9th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards,[210] but did not win any of them." More than any other game that year. More than any other game that year. MORE THAN ANY OTHER GAME THAT YEAR.princeofshapeir

Eventhough with all those awards, I can't find much people that don't agree that:

-the game was everything but fun.

-the visuals were atrocious.

-the story, characters and voice acting were good tough.

For me, RDR was the real Rockstar game this gen.

The first two things you said are things I disagree with. I had more fun with GTA IV than any other GTA game and the visuals were incredible considering the scale, meticulous detail of Liberty City, and the date of release (2008). GTA IV is one of my favorite games of all time and I vastly prefer it to anything Rockstar has ever made, including RDR and Max Payne 3. It's one of those games I keep coming back to.

Maybe I over generalized a bit: GTA IV did have some fun parts, and it isn't as horrible as some people say. But still, I felt pretty bored in some parts and I just dragged myself to finish the game. Vice City is still the best GTA for me:P

Oppinionated, I see.

Here are some facts for you - GameSpot rated GTA IV a 10 and GTA IV is sitting at 95% on Metacritic (98% on 360 and PS3 and 90% on PC) based off of 86 critics.

__

GTA IV was far and away the most refined and well developed out of every single GTA game and seeing how grand Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar as a whole will have learned how to improve upon GTA IV and just embarrass all other open world, action, and action adventure games until either Rockstar North or Rockstar put out anther game.

Grand Theft Auto IV was one of the worst games of the generation. It got high scores, yet didn't get away with the GOTYs like MGS4, Fallout 3, LBP etc.. I wonder why? reviewers regret giving it the 10 they gave it BEFORE opening the box. When I read about GTAIV I thought it would be every SA was and more. Instead it was a gimped GTA 3 from 2001. 2/10 for that game, no more. the graphics are so ugly I struggle playing more than 30 minutes at a time (headaches) story completely uninteresting and didn't feel fun at all (the sole purpose of a GTA game)

Opinions are opinions, but calling GTA one of the worst games this gen is an enormous over reach.

With that said, I agree with everything else you said. It was the game I most regret buying this gen. It was one of the most boring games I have played, along side with AC1 (this game, unfortunately, made me not care about the AC series..).

Anyone who doubts the pc has the technological edge is just out of their minds.

The problem is it doesn't have the same spectrum of games as consoles. IMO of course;)

Uncharted linear repeatitve boring gameaplay is one of the worst things in the gaming industry really

Halo gameplay is the best i have played with in any shooter

There is some huge difference there, that is why Halo 3 has sold more than all Uncharted games combined and is still played

loosingENDS

Ironic, because you're one of the worst things I've seen in these forums:D

And I actually think you're being a tad hipocrite, because both Uncharted and Halo succeed and fail in the same two aspects: both are derivative and unoriginal, but both EXCEED in their gameplay. Both are the pinnacle of their genres.

But they differ in some other (less important imo) aspects. Uncharted as way better graphics, for one. But Halo is a lot more popular (something very important considering the main aspect of the game is it's online component)

Uncharted has no gameplay, you cant count moving the hero ahead and shooting at the appearing enemies gameplay surly, that is a shooting gallery joke

Sure Uncharted excels in the non gameplay genre, it is the best non game in history

Halo excels in the games with gameplay genre, it has the best freeform gameplay in a shooter yet, you can roam the huge maps, go behind enemies, grab their vehicles and weapons, roam the map vertically in flyers and everything in between

Comparing Uncharted to Halo, is like comparing a life sentenced convict to a national geographic photographer

The gameplay in Uncharted was laughable at best, in Halo the best possible

Halo is completly original BTW and not an indiana jones copy and one of the best sci fi game settings to date

Wha?You just described the main aspect of most tps's. And i bet you just hate GeoW...

Both are derivative. Period. Both are perfectly executed. Period again.

And if you think Uncharted is boring... Well, you must hate most shooters then. And Uncharted, even though not doing anything new, as some excellente action scenes: the train level in U2 comes to mind:)

Waiting for Infamous 2 to install. It's at 22%.

Why is this SO FKING SLOW!!! on the PS3.

It is a 15 Gb game.

It would be finished by now on a PC. They are the same HDD's.

Explain.

BibiMaghoo

It normally takes quite some time (in my experience). Doesn't anyone remember the DMC 4 thingy?:P

Anyway, don't worry. The game will be worth your time;)

[QUOTE="soulitane"] Not as overrated as Uncharted.loosingENDS

lol u freakin kidding me? Halo is probably the most overrated franchise in existence

Uncharted is somewhat overrated true, but still a great game. Halo is mediocre at best, and yes, I beat the 1st on PC and played some Halo 2, 3 and Reach on my neighbours house fyi. Never tryed ODST though but it looks the same
