My Online Gaming Name - Co2

It originated with the first time i played a PS2 game online (Hardware Online Arena)

I was trying to decide of a cool name that everyone could easily pronounce online when talking to me and stuff

I went though a list of all of these names and suddenly Co2 came to mind, but not because of Carbon Dioxide, i don't think of my names in the scientific way

Anyway, so i choose Co2 and used that or a close enough name on all of my PS2 online games and it growed on me, it was easy, simple, cool and everyone knew how to say it. SIMPLE

However, ever since we heard the first major talk about the PS3 i thought to myself maybe i should have a new name for the next gen era, but again i wanted it to be simple, cool, and easy to say for people online

So thinking about how good the name Co2 was for my PS2 online play, i decided that i will go with Co2 again to carry it on through to the next gen gaming era

But suddenly it hit me and i thought that the 2 of Co2 kinda stood for the console number that i was using to play online with, THE PS2

So thinking that i decided to opt for Co3 aswell, because this console is THE PS3!

The only problem is that i created my PS3 USER NAMES, (Co2-, Co3- and Bernard-01) using the PS3 Username creator on the website for the Europeans but Co2 and Co3 where all ready taken

I tried different options on Co2 & Co3 but everything had been taken, so i finally got through with the dash at the end of the names, leaving me with Co2- & Co3-

But this is the weird thing:

If the original Playstation had online, i would have called myself Co1, so it is kinda like a:

PS3 to Launch in UK on 23rd March 2007
Over 30 Titles for Launch Period
1 Million units forecast for Initial European Launch Period

London, 24 January 2007 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today announced that PLAYSTATION 3 will be launched in the PAL territories including the United Kingdom on 23rd March 2007 at a price of £425.

Responding to retail and consumer demand, SCEE confirmed that initially only the 60GB model would be available, with the 20GB model to follow later in the year dependent on demand.

An expected one million PS3 units will be made available during the initial launch period to all SCEE territories.

SCEE also announced a stellar launch line-up of over 30 game titles for PS3, including eagerly awaited titles published by SCEE such as Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji: Days of the Blade, FORMULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION and Ridge Racer 7.

An exceptional range of titles in every genre will also be available at launch from the world’s leading third party publishers, including Electronic Arts, Activision, Namco Bandai, Sega, Take 2, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal, and Sony Online Entertainment.

In addition to games on disc, an exciting range of fully-featured downloadable games
will debut on the PLAYSTATION Network. These will include gaming icons such as Tekken: Dark Resurrection and Gran Turismo HD Concept; the fully-featured PS3 debut of the best-selling franchise Gran Turismo, realised with full HD (1080p) visual quality.

Created by Polyphony Digital Inc and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Gran Turismo HD Concept has been downloaded by more than 350,000 users since it was released in December 2006 in North America and Japan.

Also available on the PLAYSTATION Network will be brainteasers such as Go! Sudoku and Go! Puzzle, and innovative games such as Blast Factor and flOw, designed exclusively for PLAYSTATION 3 and delivering on the promise to provide original content created by non-traditional developers and publishers.

Concurrent with the European launch, a new System Update to further enhance the entertainment potential of PS3 will be issued.

Announcing the launch details, Ray Maguire, SVP and MD of SCEUK said, “Following the hugely successful launches of PS3 in Japan and North America, we are absolutely delighted to be able to bring significant numbers of PS3 to the UK. To be able to launch with over 30 titles including retail versions and great downloadable gaming experiences across every genre shows that this is our strongest launch line-up in the history of PlayStation, and is what PlayStation fans in the UK have been crying out for.”

End LAG Now!

Millisecond delays between clicking your mouse and seeing your shot fire in an online game might not be an humanitarian issue, but that's just because you've been pulled into a "National Acceptance" of LAG, according to a bizarre new initiative called "EndLagNow.org".

From these sombre tones in which these zealots talk about lag, you'd think they were a support group for victims of violent crime. ""No longer will LAG simply be accepted as part of the online gaming experience. We will fight, we will win, we will end LAG now!"

The company behind this site (Bigfoot Networks), have created a utility that runs in your system tray and monitors the LAG you're experiencing in games, and notes the cause of it. They're not terribly helpful about the solution, though.

After a lot of gumph about fighting LAG through increasing awareness of it, their practical advice ranges from patronising ("Choose the server with the lowest ping") to i'm passioned but hopelessly ambiguous ("Don't let those murderous bastards who write spyware ruin your game").

In fact, some of it starts to make you wonder if they know what on Earth they're talking about.

The utility is well-made and informative, though, and if nothing else you can use it to determine whether you are the victim of a poor connection in the game you just lost, or if you just suck abysmally.
