Something I put together the other day

It's not ready for prime time, other wise it'd be part of the collection I have here, but...

I've been making a point of saving my Sundays for songwriting. I've been having a bout with writer's block lately, and while I may not be proud of the output I've been putting out as of late, at least I can say I put out SOMETHING. Out of all the ones I've been working on, this is one of the better ones, though, of course, it needs some more work:

Listen..

I do sound marble-mouthed in that once through, so here are the lyrics:

At some point, I'll change up that last verse and turn it into a bridge. Right now, I just wanted to keep things simple and peaceful between myself, my PDA and my Zoom H4. It took me about 5 hours to put together this afternoon, and I got done with this in time for "Rock of Love" (Heaven help me...)

I was in a Sheryl Crow-ish kinda mood, though I have to admit the quality of the mix ain't all that great Aside from that...thoughts? HMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Show me some love (or not)...

I need some reviews, folks...

If you like what you are hearing (or don't like what you are hearing) on my artist page , please feel free to speak your mind. Constructive critique is always welcome. And since I'm always in the search of a good laugh, if you feel the need to get all NME on my person, feel free to come up with the most creativly concocted, well-written analysis of how much I really suck. I'll highlight the best put down in a future blog entry.

But if you want to say nice things about my music, I'll welcome that as well. :)

First Blog Post, WOOHOO

Hello all!

My name is Helen. If you came here from my artist page, you already know that I sing (occasionally pretty well), and compose and record my own songs (sometimes even within a mile of brilliance, though most of my friends and family think I'm pretty good. 8) ). I do all of my work either on my home computer (primarily sequencing using Fruity Loops and Soundfonts, and recording vocals and instruments using N-Track) or my Dell Axim PDA, with recording done on my Zoom H4, for the more on-the -fly demo kinda stuff, that I may post on occasion. I would consider myself to be an old-fashioned singer/songwriter (verse/chorus/verse/bridge/verse/chorus, ad nauseum) working within the electronica realm, more for practicality, ease of use, and access to creativity, than anything else. Hence, my current placement in the Electronic and Dance category. However, not everything I compose is going to have a stonking beat to it. But, hey! If you can dance to ballads, you may like a lot of the stuff that I do! :)

I'm also an opinionated little cuss. Hopefully, you won't hold that against me. Since CNet encourages cleanliness on their servers (hey! They're THEIR servers), I'll be saving this blog area strictly for updates on my MP3.com page, announcements of goodness happening (either to myself or others), and maybe a music review here and there.

I actually have some history with the MP3.com url, in that I used to post music, do collaborations, and other monkey business back when Michael Robertson ran the show. I got into the thick of it on the forums and raised a lot of ruckus (along with other nefarious no-lifers, will not be named; they know who they are. ;) ). That was a long time ago. I've grown up and moved on. In my efforts to eradicate any and all drama from my personal and online life, I've developed a lack of tolerace for any hate, whatsoever. This, for the most part, includes myself. So, if you feel the need to get all Bill O'Reilly on my person because something I said either here or elsewhere got stuck in your craw, either be constructive and concise about it in your response, or go play Papa Bear somewhere else. This includes feeling the need to dredge up whatever I may have done or said 7 years ago on some long forgotten, long since shut down BBS somewhere. If you haven't gotten over it, there's no hope for you. I have. Deal.

Now that we've established things, let's play ball! :D
