A Notebook

Albeit not precisely my notebook. It is my sister's.

There was a notebook expo in my city last sunday, and my sister, had been longing for one, finally obtained an Acer Aspire 4745G with i5 430M 2.27 GHz, Mobility Radeon 5470 512 MB VRAM (1 GB available video memory), 2 GB RAM, 640 GB HDD, W7 Home Premium, 14" screen (1366x768 ), Dolby soundsystem etc., etc. Got it home for around 830 bucks.

So far I've only tested the thing with Stranglehold (woot). Planning to rig it with Just Cause 2 sometime this week, however. The notebook's W7 Home Premium (not preincluded, installed separately) is highly crucial, since my usual rig on the desk merely had an XP SP3. I am confident enough with such specs, especially considering the thing is a laptop and not a desktop. Still, I am a bit worried concerning the RAM.

I do have a parting query though. Which is better, an i5 or a Core 2 Quad? Similar clock speeds.

Rigged A New Engine

Hiya.

I've just acquired a new machine last week, all thanks to my mom and pops. I was successfully enrolled to my college of choice and they liked it, so they bought me this. It might seem to be mere intermediate machine for hardcore standards, but I'm still real proud, satisfied, and happy of it.

Mobo's Asus P5Q Pro, with Core 2 Quad 2.83 GHz and Corsair TwinX 4 Gigs. GPU's Sapphire HD 4870 1 Gigs, and it's got a Vapor-X cooling or such. I put an Asus Silent Knight II to prevent overheating like I've experienced with my previous machine, and in addition, put it in an air-conditioned room, unlike its predecessor.

Monitor is LG 18.5", and speakers are Altec Lansing BXR-something.

I've tested it with Far Cry 2 and Saints Row 2, and so far it runs real well on ultra-high settings. I'd like to test it with a GTA IV, but haven't managed to get a copy. Maybe next week. Got any other suggestions I should test with this?

Being Saxophonic

These days I feel so saxophonic.
I've just got my Maxtone alto saxophone about 2 weeks ago and now I'm studying how to play it. I can't afford a Yamaha; it costs about US$900 and they say it's for the intermediate-advanced players. Well for starters, I think my Maxtone will do.
I recently am so addicted with smooth jazz, especially those which features saxophones as their main instrument. I favor Dave Koz, Kenny G, and Eric Darius as my want-to-be-like saxophonists. I've already got 3 DK albums and a Kenny G 2 CD pack "The Essentials" album at home, unfortunately I am still unable to find any Eric Darius album. I have ever watched him in a live concert with Jeff Lorber, hell he is so cool and I really want to have one of his smoothest album.
And by the way, anybody can tell me a site where I can find musical notes/tabs/sheets of the musicians I mentioned above for free? I especially esteem the following tones:
Can't Let You Go (The Sha La Song) (DK)
Together Again (DK)
Love is On The Way (DK)
Definition of Beautiful (DK)
Theme from Schindler's List (DK)
Midnight Motion (Kenny G)
Oh yeah, and I'm currently practicing The Fragrance of Dark Coffee (you know, Godot's theme) at home. Luckily, I've managed to find its sheets.

Overheating

Several times ago I moved to a new place. Here my room is smaller than the one in my old place, so I have to put my PC in the 2nd floor living room. And I thought that made a significant difference.
Previously my PC is inside the room, which is equipped with an AC. Therefore, I can affect my PC's temperature by manipulating the AC. But now, with it's moved to the living room, which there is no AC there, I feel that my PC overheats fast. My city is a well-hot one, you know.
Once I ever played Just Cause ,Company of Heroes, and followed by Stranglehold (graphics setting: the most max) for about 5 hours nonstop and nothing happened. But now I played Call of Duty 4 and World in Conflict (graphics setting: medium) and for both games it sends the overheat warning just in the first 20 minutes. Do you have any suggestions for how to cool my PC down? Maybe buying some extra fans? Or special game cooler?
Oh yeah, my VGA is Radeon X1900XT (it's an old model yeah but I have faith on it, it's still trustworthy after all) and I got 2 fans in the CPU.

Armageddon--No Cheats This Time!!! The Infection Continues

In my earlier blogs I've stated that I've overran U.K. with the assistance of U.S. Forces which I turned into an Axis nation using cheat.

This time, there is no such a cheat!! No U.S. intervention, and in early-mid 1941 I've made the careless Hitler not to invade U.S.S.R. So Germany and Soviet Union kept it cool. With U.S. too, we have a relation of +120. Japan kept herself busy with the Nationalist China and the so-called Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis hadn't been signed yet.

The result is the following:

Operation Benvernichten: London Overran

What's more, suddenly Iraqi Revolutionaries rebel to their British puppeteers, which in turn brought out another new front: The Middle Eastern Front. Syria and Iraq are now officially part of the Axis.

In the next two years from this point, I aim to launch Operation Freiheitauslöschen. Maybe I'll post another blog later.

Oh yeah, the game difficulty and A.I. aggressiveness are both at normal level.

Suspense

You know recently I've became so addicted with suspense--perhaps practically everything related into that genre. Books, movies, games, you know, those stuff.
In the genre identification (why can't I write *c l a s s*+ification?), I think most suspense games are categorized as adventure game... that might be right but not every adventure games is a suspense game.
Since it's GameSpot, I'm going to tell you about the games. The first (maybe) suspense game I played is Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit boxart
Then Hotel Dusk, a very marvelous masterpiece
Hotel Dusk
Now I'm really curious about the upcoming Alan Wake

And Heavy Rain

I just can't keep thinking how the storydesigners designed such a thrilling story, wow I'm wanting more of such games.
I've read that adventure games flourished in the 80s and 90s especially for PCs. I haven't tried any that they refer as text adventure, but I'm willing to. Anybody had tried? How's the feel?
Anybody ever watched the movie Identity? I wonder how if somebody made a game like that, but that doesn't mean I want an Identity game, maybe something like Hotel Dusk. But Hotel Dusk don't involve murders:|.
Do you have any recommendations for me?
Remember, suspense is different with horror, although might be a bit identical to thriller.

The Hearts of Iron II Plague.

I started to fell in love in Grand Strategies in maybe late 2006. You know, I've just actually acquired this not-too-new game in October 2007 and I haven't stop playing since. Yo this is serious. Really.
The one I bought was the Anthology, so I've gotten my hands on all of the games in the series. And that's also serious.
I really can't stop playing that game! You know I've finished Call of Duty 4 in less than a week, and I rarely plays multiplayer, so I stopped. But for Hearts of Iron, there ain't no word such as "stopping."
After playing as Germany and changing history like, making US to join the Axis (using cheat, well), I managed to conquer the British Isles. UK had moved her capital to someplace in India and France had totally fallen. What's left for me is Operation Barbarossa.
Then, I played as the Americans, and I build my forces in a real rapid fashion, building extra number of fortifications, especially AA and Shore Batteries, in Pearl Harbour. In October 1941, two months prior to the Pearl Harbour Invasion, I declared war to those suspicious people in Samurai outfits and their "Kuo-Kuo" puppets. By that time, Nationalist China had fallen.
I also tried to play recent-independent nations (after freeing them earlier from their colonial governments) like Lebanon, Israel, Indonesia, Singapore, and Egypt.
I ever tried to change US government into dictatorship with Roosevelt replaced with a strange-looking guy with glasses named Fritz Kuhn. Then, I transformed Nazi Germany back to Weimar Republic by replacing Hitler with Hindenburg.
This game is seriously, highly addictive. I wish Paradox would consider a sequel with a longer timespan.

New Struggle Begins

Yo this is BlackTargetmark, and you know it's 2008, as me and everybody else knows.
What does that mean?
After the soothing and joyful, blissful holidays in the end of the year, the beginning of the year begins. As usual, it was said that "after each ends there is new beginning." or something like that. So here we are in the year start.
What's my point for this wuss-looking prologue? Simply put, this way:
THIS OCT-NOV WILL BE MY A-LEVEL TEST!
It's still approximately 9 months to collision, but such duration won't be felt.
I'll try my best.

Happy New Year!

Happy new year 2008 A.D.! Let us hope everything nice we do last year will be smoother and a lot better this year.
Let us hope those who sick recover.
Let us hope those who has hostilities has amities instead.
Let us hope those who wishing for good success be granted.
And let us hope that there will be LOADS of HIGH QUALITY games released this year!
And make sure they're released on time!

The December 19 Incident

I logged in to my GameSpot ID at December 19, 2007, 5.49 AM GMT, and I found out something real shocking.
My level!
Why my level has reseted to level 2?
It appears that most GameSpot members in my union also infected by these phenomenon. But they didn't lose their badge, that's the brighter side. Well, I haven't checked other members though.
What's going on? GameSpot please explain!
