Old Favorite.. New format.. Really all that bad?

I've noticed that if a game.. that was once an old favorite.. ie Mario, takes a new format.. People seem to complain about it largely because it is different without giving the new format a chance. I know that I have been guilty of such complaints but come on at the very least keep playing.. give it a chance. I've seen a few people make comments about a game being horrible after only playing it for a few hours because it was different from the orignal. What is that? Can someone tell me? Why can't a new format be given a chance. I will never get rid of a game without having given it a fair chance just because the format is different. Just because the controls are slightly different or the camera angle is a bit changed doesn't mean that all the things you loved aren't in there somewhere. Just give it a chance. That's all I can say.

Why is it?

Why is it that people complain when a game is hard? I really don't get it, I mean I personally like a game to be challenging. Why would you want to waste your money on a game that you can beat in a few hours and then never touch again or get rid of once the novelty wears off? Isn't there something to be said for challenges anymore? Why do people want everything to be easy? I don't want a game to be so simple that I can beat it in a few hours of play. I want to spend days or even weeks at a time playing a game and I want to be able to enjoy it when I come back to it after its all over. So for all of those people that complain that a game is to hard, why don't you try to put some time into it you might find that its worthwhile and you won't spend as much money on games that last less than a few hours.
