Gaston is a great addition to the team - insightful, intelligent, funny. I wonder if he isn't holding back a bit here though. His thesis is tight of course, but isn't the problem deeper than 'running before you walk'? They are forcing everyone to participate in the race whether we want it or not. I'm also multiplayer / social gaming etc, but it should be our choice whether we play games in that way, not a model that is enforced irrespective.
Mark - DCI Roberts from West End Central police station has called and asked if you could call him back on 020 7353 6728 to fix an appointment for you to 'speak' to him about the pepper grinder issue. Thanks
I agree - not because of the spurious 'games breed violence' argument, but because am I tired of the lack of originality. The biggest gaming thrills and flushes of excitement have (for me) been associated with new ideas and experiences. I'm not stuck in 1986 - I thought both Portals were fabulous and genuinely innovative, engaging brains as well as thumbs. But I got so depressed watching the E3 footage this year.
I'm not suggesting people can't enjoy FPSers and I understand why big publishers keep pushing them out, but these AAA behemoths are to games as Mills & Boon to literature.
Just goes to show what some shameless pod begging can achieve. Could you repeat the trick, pointing out that I could really do with an Aston Martin DB7?
