What's Next?

I've finally started chippin' away at the unplayed portion of my collection. I'm makin' headway! LOL Dreski gave me a good suggestion, as far as runnin' with Resistance 2 first (great look!). Not only did I go there & complete that game (online is next for that), but I made my way thru COD 4 (FINALLY!!), Blitz 2, NCAA Football 09, & a lot of the others. Spiderman: Web Of Shadows & Fallout 3 are currently in the deck with NBA 2K9. Now, I need another suggestion. With Killzone 2, Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil 5, Tekken 6, & Mad World Coming, I need to make some more room on the waiting list. Where do I go from here, while I have these remaining:

*BioShock

*Dead Space

*No More Heroes (Wii)

*Call Of Duty: World At War

*Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe

*Assassin's Creed (still have not played)

*Resistance: Fall Of Man

What can I do? LOL

What Do I Play Next?!??!?

This is a very honest question! LOL With the many games that I've purchased over the past few weeks for my PS3, such as:

*BioShock

*Blitz: The League 2

*Dead Space

*Spider-Man: web Of Shadows

*NBA 2K9

*Monopoly

*Resistance 2

*NCAA Football 09

*No More Heroes (Wii)

*Call Of Duty: World At War

*Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe

*Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (still have not played yet)

*Assassin's Creed (still have not played)

What's the next thing that I should stick in the deck?? I have given Monopoly its test run (7 out of 10), but have only looked at the rest. While I'm relaxing with my newborn son, What should I run with? This'll be 1 of the few times that public opinion will fly with me! LOL But, with so little time, I need a wise choice, even though I'm still in the middle of GTA 4.

PS3: My Adventures In Next-Gen Gaming Pt. 2

Many Jobs = minimal time to get at my gaming like I should; but, it doesn't stop. With a new addition to my family on the way, I'd better stock up for the many nights at home with the little one. In the process, I've been makin' new purchases, & have finally had a chance to play a couple of others that have been still shrink-wrapped in my collection. Pickin' up from where I left off . . . .

Burnout Paradise

This was a long-awaited purchase for me. It was well worth the buy! Albeit somewhat repetitive in the gameplay at times, the game can be addictive. I'm still stackin' my cars up, even though my license class is real suspect! LOL

Grand Theft Auto IV

Fam, what more can be said outside of "I got it!!" LOL I'm still fumblin' with that small iconic box that they call a cell phone on the game. 1nce I have that mastered, I'll be straight. It's 100% GTA. If you weren't into the franchise prior to this, you won't get into this 1 either. But, if you're a fan of the series, like me, then this is like a salivatin' kid that finally got that promised piece of candy.

Half Life 2: The Orange Box

I've been a fan of this game, & have been waitin' on this since the 1st Half Life dropped on the PS2. Although, I've only completed the 1st chapter (Half Life 2), the gameplay easily fell back into place. I'll have to play the remainin' 2 'episodes' in order to feel the story is more well-rounded. Right now, it feels too wide open for me. Good puzzles, & 1 helluva degree of difficulty.

Time Shift

This was 1 of the most disappointing "build up" games in next-gen!! The best part of the game, is the CG movie cutscenes. The game itself was extremely wack. I don't believe that I'll even finish it, & could wind up on the trade-in block for me. This was a waste.

I still have 2 games left unplayed:

*Call Of Duty 4 (NO!!!! I DID NOT PLAY IT YET!!! - LOL & I don't have that kind of time to invest in the online play, either!!)

*Assassin's Creed (What can I say? I'll get to it!)

Heavily sought after games in the waiting:

*Soul Calibur 4 *Blitz The League *most of the games in my wish/tracked list (even though I'm gettin' kinda "iffy" on Haze after that Time Shift fake out)

Check back. The updates will roll in.

PS3: My Experience In Next Gen Gaming Pt. 1

Since my purchase of the PS3 on 12/22/06, I've purchased 19 games to date (1/19/08). Albeit a slow ride in in release dates (thanks to games being initially built on the 360, & later being restructured for the PS3, but NOT using the PS3's true muscle), I've still had a pretty good 13 months of gaming. Here where I stand in my collection thus far (in no particular order):

Marvel Ultimate Alliance: As an avid comic reader as a kid, this game appealed to that sense. With Iron Man being 1 of my ultimate characters, & him being a cover character, I had to have it! LOL With a very loose story, & less than expected graphics, this was a short-lived play, after I completed the story mode. Largest problem? The characters were too small.

MotorStorm: The only reason why I bought this, is I got it from a bargain store for $35. I couldn't see spending the entire $65, because the game play's not deep enough. It's still a very pretty game. But, I'll have to get my PS3 online to get the downloadable extra content before I'll go back to it.

Fight Night Round 3: This was the first game that I purchased that finally made me happy about my PS3 purchase! As a former pugialist, the realism of this game kept me encompassed. I'm still playing it as a single player & against others. I have a fellow deejay that I STILL a stomping to! LOL

NBA Street Homecourt: Graphically gorgeous. It seems scaled back on innovation made famous in the 1st 3 offerings, but, still a good game. I'd have to play it more to further explore this. I've only played it about 4-5 times to date. LOL

Def Jam Icon: Graphically crazy, but I have yet to adjust to the gameplay associated with it. I guess I should Expect a change with a change of generation systems. I can't pass complete judgement on this until I play it more. 4-5 spins to date. Addendum: I've played more of it. Gameplay's kinda repetitive, & the storyline's almost the same as the previous offerings. It's still kinda fun to see where things go, & how well you can manage to make money as a record label.

All Pro Football 2K8: This, by far, was THE most anticipated game for me. As pro football is still my #1 favorite sport, & having grown extremely tired of Madden's long list of short-comings, I had to have this. This was a craving for me, thanks to its little brother, NFL 2K5. Scaled back from its little brother game, it's still a good game. Even though I thought that I wouldn't, I've eventually created 2 additional teams (1 thanks to the codes of the teams of the NFL uniforms, & a coach that comes with the Pittsburgh that strikes a huge resemblance to Mike Tomlin). I'm a pro football enthusiast. I can't stay away from this game. The game play is still fun for me.

NBA 2K7: Since I already owned this game for the PS2, this was initially an experiment for me. I wanted to feel the game play differences, as well as view the graphic differences on my own. The graphics, hands down, were way better on the PS3; however, on the plug-n-play factor, PS2 had that beat. With the nagging problem that still exists in the newer model (too many missed shots), you had to tweak it to get the effect that should've already been there. However, it became good enough to give my PS2 version to an incle. LOL

College Hoops 2K7: A gorgeous graphic diet feature version of the pro game. Just because it's a college game, doesn't mean that it has to feel extremely different, control wise. After adjusting, this became fun.

Heavenly Sword: This was a sleeper in my collection, until I finally played it, & couldn't put it down. This is like playing a CG movie!! The story is good, characters are good, acting is good, graphics are good, lip-syncing with voice acting is really ground breaking. The story is short, because the game & story are encompassing Worthy spend!!

John Woo's StrangleHold: Nice looking game, but plagued with a few headaches. In addition to being short (completed this in 2 days of playing, even with working! - LOL), the camera angles weren't too great, & the controls were suspect. Not a bad game, but disappointing due to the wait.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma: This was long awaited by me since this was Ninja Gaiden Black on the XBox. I didn't own an XBox either. LOL The game is a loveshot. The boss difficulty was just right. Although, I was disappointed at the story ending, the game is fantastic. I'll go back to complete the mission mode, & even the 5 hidden missions.

Madden 08: I knew before I bought this, that this was not gonna be a good game. I didn't know exactly how bad, until I actually bought it. This game stinks on the PS3. The graphics are bad, & the frame rate makes it that much worse. This is THE 2nd worse outing for Madden ever (the 1st outing on the PS1 was THE WORST!!). However, in its defense, I keep hearing this game is way better on the XBox 360. So, I'm waiting to see it on the 360.

Time Crisis 4: Even though the critics slammed this game due to the graphics, it's still 100% Time Crisis. The only question that I initialy had, prior to purchase & even before playing it, is how the new light gun would work. I have a 46" HDtv. How would these 2 lttle sensors that come with it cover all of this?!?!? Well, it did! This is a still a very fun play (especially with a much larger screen). I still have to go further in the game, & get used to the gunners that keep landin' those sneaky bullets in on me! LOL

NBA 2K8: With almost a graphic overhaul, I never knew this game could get any better. It has!!! They've tightened the moving schematics, & made it graphically THE most realistic looking basketball game to date. Still the problem of missed shots persist; but, witht the same tweaks from 2k7's version, it becomes fun again.

College Hoops 2K8: Graphically the beaut of NBA 2K8 (even with the generic player models that college games must use, due to licensing reasons), but with the same nag as the College Hoops 2K7, this is 1 for those that collect the series. It's still fun. Go DeJuan Blair (#45 - Pitt, from my hometown, my hood!!) ;)

The games still left untouched in my collection (at the moment) are:

Assassin's Creed

Half Life 2: The Orange Box

TimeShift

Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (although, I allowed a relative to play it while I watched)

With Burnout Paradise dropping this coming Tuesday (1/22/08), that'll go into the untouched list as well (for a brief moment! - LOL) As you know, this will be continued as I go thru my untouched games, & continue to add new games to it. Shouts to my dude Chris @ Bestbuy. He's the reason why I bought Assassin's Creed.

1/22/2008 Addendum: I just bought Burnout Paradise . . . .

Why Aren't PS3 games BUILT ON THE PS3?!?

Being a PS3 & non-XBox 360 owner (no hate there:D ), I'm very frustrated w/ the games that are bein' visibly constructed on the 360 to cross the other platforms. Games that I've been waitin' for such as Stranglehold & Half Life 2: The Orange Box are already built on the 360, & are in current rotation for the 360. Why am I STILL waiting on this games to hit the PS3?!?!?!? In the past, multi-platform games were built on their respective machines, & were (for the most part) prepared for launch around the same time, so that each console's consumers were not stuck waiting, & were not driven to purchase the competitor's machine. From what I gather, the 360 maxes out @ 720p. The PS3 is able to use the entire 1080p. It would make much more to make the games on the PS3 (if they have to make them on 1 console to spread around), or make them on each separate system to make them unique to each system's capabilities (there IS A CONSOLE WAR, remember?!?? - LOL). Instead, game makers are stuck tweaking the games that tend to push the PS3 releases back & making them MONTHS behind 360 releases (Stranglehold MAY actually drop for PS3 on 10/30/07 & as a "consolation", they're incorporating the movie "Hard Boiled" into the game disc. :question:Half Life 2 has been slammed back as far as December @ last count!!! WTF!!!!). This frustrates me as a PS3 owner. The only reason why I haven't snapped & purchased a 360, is because I don't have the time to attempt to like the controller (the only reason why I never bought 1). & Even though I don't have a lot of time to hit the games that I actually own, I like buyin' my games on time! I'm a drop-day king, & would like for my drop-days to be in-sync with everyone else!! Let's get on the ball, people!! LOL

Madden 08 vs. APF 2K8

It's pigskin season, everyone w/ love of the sport is scrambling to get their favorite football to serve as the active soundtrack to the season. With 2 pro games on the market, which way do you go w/ it, if not both? I actually bought both (to me, Madden was a mistake). With APF 2K8, you run w/ retirees (classic favs, even complete w/ O.J.!!). With Madden you run w/ your current league hitters (Vick was already in before the case he caught). What makes either of them worth it? APF 2K8 has:

*full size player models *fluid controls *full commentary *great halftime show, cutscenes, & surprisingly crisp graphics (PS3) *referees, line judges, chain jockeys, etc. *great audio (even a not-so-cheezy mic'd up feature on the players) *some of the best players that have ever played the sport *very creatively illustrated stadiums & uniform designs (since they have to be fictitious) *great character models for the fans in the stands.

Madden 08 has:

*much better under-the-helmet character models than any other Madden game *close to accurate stadiums, almost to the smallest details *fantastic looking cutscenes that actually come into play WHILE playing (mainly on kickoffs & kicks) *PA announcer that actually takes the side of the home team during the game (A FIRST!!) *on-field graphics (not the players tho) that resemble watching the NFL on NBC

Whatever your football fancy, it exists. However, for my money? APF 2K8 looks better, plays better, IS better!! PS3 owners get robbed in the graphics department. In conjunction to the player models being very small (& moving slow), the graphics are nowhere near as sharp as the 720p this game is supposed to boast. It's very fuzzy. The 1080p for APF 2K8 is surprisingly matched. Even though both games have their flaws (Madden has waaaaaaaayy more!!), the choice lies in how you view football. With a reduced price tag of $39.95 for APF 2K8, if you don't already own it, don't sleep on it!!

All Pro Football 2K8 . . . maaaaaaaaaann!!!

With the way that I've touted this game since its announcement, I'm very disappointed in this presentation AFTER 3 YEARS OF PREPARATION!!I've waited for this game to come, & would've waited 'til the franchise was freed up, just to get another 1. They (Sega/VC/2K Sports) shaved so much off of the 2K footgame, that it's almost unrecognizable. It STILL plays better than ANY other football game on the market (except ESPN NFL 2K5), has the most realistic feel to it, & even looks better than any football game on the market (all of this is true, even w/ the impending Madden coming). But, I just don't understand how features can be removed from the game, & there's nothing put in to replae them. THIS GAME NEEDS THE FIRST PERSON VIEW OPTION!!!! Why remove that, when the graphics are what's supposed to nake this game?!?? Any of us that have ever really played the sport, can really appreciate the realism & feel to it, when it was played on NFL 2K5. Those that have never played organized ball, could appreciate it, because it put you in the game. They HAVE to put it back for the next installment. On my current team, I have William Perry & Dexter Manley. Both were #72 on their respective teams. Why are they BOTH #72 ON MY TEAM?!???!? That shouldn't be! I don't like the soundtrack. But, w/ no option to upload any of your own music into the game, you're pretty much stuck w/ it. The kicking schematics are straight gahbage!!! (yeah, exactly how I spelled it!! - LOL) I've finally learned how to kick extra points, & even kick-offs; but, that elusive 3 pts. just seems to always get away from me, even w/ the game aiming the arrow for you! In addition to that, the controls are not as tight as its baby brother, 2K5. For some reason, I can't creep my LB to/near the line of scrimmage w/o him takin' off across the line. I've never been called for so many encroachment/offsides calls. The D-Line can't be moved anymore. They took away "The Crib" from us. A lot of the things APF 2K8 has taken out, are a lot of the things that made 2K5 the iconic game that it IS! So, needless to say, I'll be going back to 2K5, after going a few more rounds & a season with this.

Why in the hell doesn't 2K Sports make games for the PSP??!!?!? I'm a PS3 owner. So, for all of my XBOX 360 owners (that own this game) Let me know if you hear stutters in the commentary when the players head to the line, like us PS3 owners hear (?!??)

Yep, this is an addendum to my review of the game. & No, I probably still won't be buying Madden 08 either. After the previews, there are still no real differences; hence, no real reason to buy it. I'll play the demo @ the store before making that finaL determination.

After 374 days, I Will FINALLY Start To Feel The Value!!!!

I bought my 60 gig PS3 12/22/06, when parents were still pulling guns on anyone that got the last 1 before they could get to it. By the end of 2007, I will have roughly 16-18 PS3 games in my arsenal (not bad for a year, considering that I already own 8 thus far). With All Pro Football 2K8 & Stranglehold right around the bend, soon enough, I'll be buying a game/week in a couple of spurts. My wish list will dwindle down, & filter into my collection. Soon enough, Sony will finally deliver, & I'll be able to catch up to my PS2 collection. But, of course, I STILL have to find the time to play them!!! LMAO  Games like Burnout Paradise, GTA IV, & Half Life 2: The Orange Box will ease into my collection on their respectful drop days. So, there will be plenty of red-eye days @ work!! I still have to catch up to placing in my newly purchased Ninja Gaiden Sigma. While I itch to get my hands on Resident Evil 5, All Pro Football 2K8 will garner immediate attention, & knock Fight Night 3 out of the deck (love pugialism; but, I'm a pro football enthusiast @ heart). The games will finally mount in my collection, FINALLY makin' my PS3 a worthwhile purchase; especially, since I'm finnicky about most of my games. 8) However, a Wii will have to be in my future. Nintendo's E3 showing wowed me major!!

I Gotta Find Time . . .

. . . to take advantage of my videogame collection!! LOL Between my 9-5, deejayin' on the weekends, radio show on the weekends, puttin' together my own business, my video show, & family . . . my PS3 is lonely!!! LMAO The only thing that I can say, is that I'm stackin' my collection for the time that I won't have so much on my plate. But, my house, truck, music for my profession, & videogame passion (comic books as well, when I have time to go to the store for that) . . . none of these things pay for themselves (well, w/ the exception of the music for my deejain' business). :D 'Til then, I'm grindin' & collectin'. ;)
