The History of Game consoles

1972-Atari made the first videogame for the comfort of your own home the system was called an Atari which at first only had Pong,and later in years later Atari released Astroids and ect.

1983- famicom (Family Computer) system in Japan , which was their first attempt at a cartridge-based video game console. The system was very successful, selling over 500,000 units within two months.But however when it hit USA the sales had failed due to the large amount of Low quality games and freezing alot of time when the gamer is playing.

1985-NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) and with its WorldWide release BANG!! success! by Febuary of the same year out selling its competitors and releasing 15 games sold sepertley for that system, the games included Super Mario Bros ,Metroid and more.

1989-Gameboy that was made portible and took batteries and the device sold over 14 million units worldwide and still selling to date with newer versions including GB Pocket ,GB colour, GB, Advance GB Micro.

1989-Sega Game Gear.After its release in Japn in 1989 it was brought out to USA in1990 and dropped Gameboys sales a bit However,GameGear was dropped eventually in 1997.

SNES (Super Nintendo) and was sold out within 3 days of its release and was shipped to the USA in 91, and Europe in 92.This new system released by Nintendo included sharper gameplay and better finetuned controllers with more buttons.

1989-As with Sega being a fierce competitor against Nintendo Sega released there Console called the Sega Genesis the sales with this system made Nintendo plunge down to a 35% loss against this new system and with the release of Sega Genesis they released outstanding games including Mortal Combat, Sonic the Hedgehedge Hog etc

1994-Sony Playstation (which was released in 94)and hit shelves here in early next year with hot titles that are now sequals today including Twisted Metal , Wipeout , Ridgeracer.Tombradider Crash Bandicoot final Fantisy 7 and a few years later they released a mini version of the same consle.

1995-Nintendo 64.Within the first day release in Japan it sold over 500,000 units and in September 29 that same year it hit shelve in North America which made the sales fly over the roof there here well.This third new consle fetured slicker graphics that were3D and a more unique controller

1999-Sega Dreamcast was Segas last video game system unfortunatly. An attempt to recapture the console market with a next gen system it was designed to supercede PS one, and N64 and although generally considered to be "ahead of its time" (literally fifteen months before PS2and three years before GameCube & XBOX it failed to gather enough momentum before the release of thePS2 in March 2000. After the Dreamcast was discontinued, Sega withdrew the console from the hardware buisness.

2000- Playstaion 2 within a month of its release due to system malfunctions in Japan 2000 and was a very hot search on Ebay and other auctions.Eventually that same year Sony modifed the system and sold it in Japan first selling over 900,000 copies on its first weekEND!This was definetly the next revoultion of gaming offering DVD viewing on the system exellent slicker grapics and Gameplay gamesmand later on online play!When its release in USA in 2001 PS2 broke the previous record selling 1 million units within its first week of release.

2001-Gamecube released in Japan in September 14th 2004 and shipped out in US in November 18th the same follwing year.Gamecube released 20 titles as soon as it launched including:Starwars RougeSquadron 2,Waverace,Luigi's Manison,Tony Hawks proskater 3, etc

2002-Microsoft Xbox console first released on Novemcer 15th in North America then released on Feburary 2002 in Japan, The Xbox was Microsoft's first independent venture into the video game console arena, after having developed the operating system and development tools for the MSX, and having collaborated with Sega in porting Windows CE to the Sega Dreamcast console. launch titles for the console included Amped Dead pr Alive 3, Halo combat involved, and this consle made a huge impact on gaming today

2004-.Nintendo DS, unrelated to the Game Boy , featuring two screens, one of which was touch-sensitive.Within its first week of release it sold over 500,000 copies.And there are talks now Japan could release a smaller brighter compact version of this system in sometime they plan to release a more compact better screened version.

2004-PlayStation Portable, or PSP, will be released in Japan on December 12, 2004 - just 10 days after the Nintendo DS launches there.Sony is also promising 21 games out before end of year. Confirmed launch titles will include Metal Gear Acid, Dynasty Warriors, Hot Shots Golf, Ridge Racer, Need For Speed Underground Rivals, and Tiger Woods PGA Golf Tour it also has movie view photoalbum and music player as well and also like DS it offers W-Fi connection

2005-.Xbox 360 is the successor to Microsoft's original Xbox, first released on November 22, 2005 in North America The Xbox 360 competes among the upcoming generation of consoles, including the Sony PlayStation 3 and NintendoRevolution and was officially unveiled on MTVon May 12, 2005, a week before the E³ trade show. The Xbox 360 is currently the only seventh generation console available,releasing right away titles including Perfect Dark Zero, PGR3 ,KingKong and currentley there number one selling game is Call of Duty 2

Q42006-PlayStation 3.Which is schedualed for it's release on November 2006 in North America.

Q4 2006-Nintendo Revolution that is expected to be released around the end of November 2006, and ismuch more competively priced than either of the two competing Next Gen systems. With Revolution, Nintendo has made their plans clear that they hope to change the way people watch and play video games by taking gaming into a new direction, instead of merely upgrading hardware for the benefit of graphics and a very player friendly controller that was recently revealed.
