I don't think you should even try to run STALKER. Check out gog.com for older games, some great rpgs are Fallout 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and Planescape Torment. Also check out Deus Ex, definitely still worth getting to this day. It's $2 on greenmangaming right now.

I was thinking the same thing actually, but both it and World at War are on Intel's list of supported games for the chipset which I'm skeptical about.

Hey, my main desktop is kaput and right now I'm stuck with a laptop with decent specs except for its intergrated graphics chipset. I can play The Guild 2 on medium settings at 25 fps or so and this is a partial list of officially supported games: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intelgm45/sb/CS-029450.htm#a I suppose as far as game criteria RPG, strategy and sandbox games with strong replay values made within the last 8 or so years.

Games I'm considering:
Minecraft
Diablo III on lowest settings
Distant Worlds
STALKER maybe?

Both look like fun sandbox games that don't take themselves too seriously, which offers richer gameplay and more things to do?

An rpg/sim type game where you start from practically nothing and build up an empire, with multiple roles to take. It can be past, present, future, space based, anything. What games come to mind?

I was debating between the GTX 460s above when I realized with the rebate and coupon code I could get the 470 for 20 bucks more than the Palit. Is it worth the extra twenty bucks, heat and noise? The obnoxious fan seems like something that would annoy me. As for the two 460s it seems the Gigabyte 460 (1gb) runs cooler but judging from the newegg reviews it seems that people have been able to achieve amazing clocks with the Palit Platinum OC edition.

Also, I will be most likely getting the Gigabyte GTX 460 now that they changed the offer for the EVGA 460 and other brands to the sc2 trial (over a full game :() and that I will want to oc the cpu.

Hm, if I buy the CM 960 II what extra fans should I get? I think I'm eliminating the 902 because I'd rather not have any annoying LEDs...
