I bought a Seagate SATA HD 320GB 7200.10 3.0 GB/s (Perp. Recording technology) from newegg (good price) and i wanted to install windows then install 64 bit windows. Although when i boot from the CD and start the setup on the HD it is not recognizing the HD.
Mobo : Asus A8V-E Deluxe AMD 64/64 FX (chipset): VIA K8t890 / VT8237R
Im aware that the mobo is an older one and i think it might not support the HD without some sort of driver or seperate SATA pci card controller. I wanted to know what i should do to get it to recognize the drive. Is there some sort of driver download i could use. I think if i just bought a SATA pci controller for my pc it would work fine and i wouldnt have to use a shunt in the HD to limit it to 150mb/s data transfer. I went looking for controller cards and didnt really know what to buy due to lack of experience with them. If anyone would point me in the direction of a site or specific product to look at that'd be great.

My friend, not to be rude, but i have no idea what operating system you are using. Mac OSX is much more stable then xp or vista, seeing how i have a macbook pro and not once has it ever froze on me. Most likely due to user error probably, and please can we keep the ingnorant "lolz! make sux they cant play games..." comments out of this thread, its really quite ignorant seeing how macs arent designed to be gaming machines. Ask any graphic designer how it compares to OSX, there is no comparison. Now if i want to play games i'll go on my desktop with xp, that doesent mean OSX sucks, they are just developed with different intentions in mind.
