Living with the XBOX 360...

Well it has been a long time since my last post. Since then I have traded off quite a few games and replaced my XBOX with an XBOX 360 Premium. I was one of the lucky folks who had their system on launch day last year (11/22/05) and since then my system has gotten a fair amount of use. Of course I am a husband, father and home-owner so when I say fair amount I would say that my system typically sees about 6-8 hours of use per week. Sometimes more, sometimes less but it is certainly rare that I don't turn my system on at least once per day to check my messages, or see if there are new downloads available in the Marketplace.

Last week the new Spring 2006 Dashboard update came down to my system and it has made it even more convenient. I really like the new bookmark feature in DVD playback. I also like the background downloads. It so nice to set your downloads up and then go and do something else. I mean this should have been a part of the original build as the system certainly has enough horse-power to handle the multitasking. I also wish that the new personal gamerpic feature allowed you to take existing digital images and reformat them for use with the gamerpic. As of right now the only way to import something customized is to do it via the XBOX Vision camera which doesn't become available until September.

I started out with just Call of Duty 2 on launch day and then around the first of this year I purchased Perfect Dark Zero limited edition (the one in the metal box). I also purchased Marble Blast Ultra and then more recently Uno (which was purchased using the 500 points I received free from Verizon - thank you very much). I really enjoy all the demos and games I have so far as in addition I still have Ghost Recon 2, Halo 2, Crimson Skies, and Forza which work. Everything else I have liquidated however with the most recent back compatibility list update I am seriously considering re-purchasing Doom 3 (I loved that game). Also I just purchased Burnout Revenge which my wife and I have been playing. This game is so good; from the growl of the engines when the game boots to the explosive good time you have crashing other cars. Whoever dreamed up this game was a genius. It's just a blast and I love it!

Well that is all I have time for right now. Hopefully I will be able to post more soon!
