It depends on what you are interested in.
There are FPS games such as Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitters: Future Perfect

Then...there are ones that I particularly like. Some old school goodness (if you can find them!)

Look up Contra: Shattered Soldier, and Gradius V. Both have 2 player and both will give you lotsa lotsa challenge (hope you got a NERF controller).

It can all be simplified in one phrase: "We like money"

the PS3 and XBOX360 are doing POORLY in Japan (think about it, companies that originate somewhere WILL cater to their home first, and just about ALWAYS, Japan is NOTORIOUS for this). The PS3 is still going snails pace while the general Japanese public are ignoring the 360 (despite the small spark of interest Gears of War generated, Japanese people are strange, they don't like those types of games much...).

So what to do?

Go with the flow, go with Nintendo where the MONEY is.
AND make up a st00pid excuse as to why.

Sony ain't gonna be happy, I know that much.

If it is fun, people will play the mess out of it.

If the concept works WONDERS online and it's all fair and balanced (or as balanced as can be), expect it to be played for a LOOOONG time.

btw: Go look up some hardcore KOREAN matches of StarCfaft on youtube...the mess is nuts.
