The short answer is yes, you can hook up pretty much any 8 ohm speaker to the amplifier in the sub, and possibly even a 4 ohm speaker, though it may not be rated for that load.
It's going to require you using the wires from your old speakers, slicing them, and wiring the + and - cables directly to your Bose speakers - and the results may not be very impressive given the minimal wattage output of the logitech sub amp - but it'll at least get you sound.
This is totally gerry-rigged and I absolve myself of any injury or damages incurred should you fry any of your equipment, and you will if you're not very careful to make sure the + and - cables are not shorting after you cut 'em up.
Plug headphones into your headphone jack. If you computer has two jacks (front and rear) try both jacks.
Odds are that if the speakers were working and stopped, it is an issue with the speakers, and more likely either the amplifier or power supply of the speakers themselves.
The lack of bass is disturbing and I'm told not even a good DAC/headamp/break-in will save me. With non existent bass I find it hard to enjoy my pop / party / dnb / dubstep / house / club / rnb / hip-hop / trance / dance music and action movies.

You might consider the Shure SRH750DJ headphones, which have a pronounced bump in the bass region without making major clarity sacrifices.
Or you could get crazy and think outside the box. If your primary concern is neighbors, consider using transducers to supplement your bass response. Basically you would use a small amplifier and "bass shaker" combination to have tactile audio in the sub-bass frequency range, and your headphones would complement the feeling.
I've experienced bass shakers in car audio and believe me, they are NOT a gimmick. They're pretty sweet, and if you've got a piece of furniture you typically use that you can mount one or two to, you'll have a pretty amazing experience.
Hey guys, nice FAQ you got here. I'm thinking of getting the AKG K 240 MKII but I'm wondering, is it recommended to get a headphone amp? Been looking around the net for some answers, but it seems pretty mixed. I have an Asus xonar DX sound card if that makes any difference. Thanks :)

I'm going to be a bit more generic than usual and say that if you're spending more than $100 on a pair of headphones, it's an investment, and at that point it's worthwhile to consider a dedicated amplifier for them if you do not have one already. Good luck! Boz
My understanding is that they are all very similar headphones in terms of quality. I would suggest narrowing your decision by fit and function. If you have a big head/small head big ears, etc. Check the cord lengths and types; that kind of thing.
Note also that these are headphones, not headsets. You will need a separate microphone.
If you are using your headphones primarily for PC gaming, I strongly suggest you read the sticky at the top of the forum for suggestions. My apologies if you are not interested in alternatives and only want feedback on the X11.
I think the mod is awesome. I've seen it before and heard great things; the Zalman just happens to be a less-expensive alternative. I use a desktop mic myself. However, I'm not sure why you need the mixamp unless you want to go wireless (if you haven't already, read the "Surround Sound" section of the headphone sticky at the top of the forum).
So, if you want to go wireless, I agree with your entire setup and think you'll be very happy. If you're just looking for "surround sound," skip the Astro Mixamp and save yourself some money.
I have resolved this issue, or rather worked around it.
Using an older browser, in this case IE7, and the minimum security settings for the browser allowed the image uploader to queue files. I'm in the process of figuring out which setting it is exactly so that I can only change the one setting, but otherwise I've gotten a handle on it.
Updated to remove some colorful language concerning surround sound, and a dedicated section explaining Dolby Headphone, as well as what "Surround" means in the headphone world.
