BumFluff122 Blog

New Gaming PC,

Well if you've been paying attention to me in the forums I've become rather a PC lover and, from a couple days ago, my new PC recieves all my affection. Yes I built in myself :) I've bought 4 games so far: Crysis, Farcry 2, Stalker: Clear Sky and World in Conflict. My favourite of the bunch has to be Crysis and my least favourite is probably Farcry 2 which came with my video card. I'm able to play all these games on the highest ultra high settings (Not too high of a resolution however) due to my excellent purchase of a GTX 280 (Got it on sale for $200 less than the sale price) and a Quad core 9550 CPU. I can already tell you my PC is going to be my gaming source from here on out.

And I got it just in time for the Sims 3 which is suppose to be released on February 20th. However if what I hear is correct the release may be pushed back to August. Another one of the games I'm really looking forward to this year is Alan Wake.

Updates upon Updates

As I haven't posted in my blog for quite some time I thought I would keep everyone updated on my recent purchases and what I feel about those purchases. My last blog post was about me purchasing a Wii. Well I still have it though it isn;t quite as much played as my 360. However I now have 11 games for it and still growing. Probably my favourite is either Legend of Zelda: Twilight PRincess, Resident Evil 4 or Prince of Persia Rival Swords. My most recent purchase was a trivia game known as Smarty Pants that I can play with friends around the house.

My 360 has been getting quite a lot of love since I first purchased it. I have over 50 games now and it too is growing rapidly. COD4: Modern Warfare is basically the only game I play on the system now though I do switch over to Carcassonne now and then, a game that I have loved since I bought the original board game many years ago. My last purchase for the console was, I believe, Devil May Cry 4. Though it can't pull me away from my COD4 addiction I find it an extremely fun game none the less.

Recent Wii purchase

I just recently bought a Wii and I have to say it is a very good console. The controls for games are excellent and it is very enjoyable to play, especially with a few friends. Probably the best game thus far on the system is the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess I also picked up Wii Sports and Wii Play with my original purchase however these games in no way match up to the pure fun of Zelda. After listening to all the hype of Metroid Prime 3 I decided to pick that up as well. Though it's not anywhere near as fun as Zelda it still provides a great deal of enjoyment.

My most anticipated game for the Wii right now is a game called MySims. It's similar to the PC Sims 2 game yet vastly different. Your charcters are more cartoonish looking and you have a lot more customization in the game. You can even build your own objects and such. It looks like it's going to be a very enjoyable game for the entire family.

Xbox 360 and DOA4

Well my XBox360 died recently with the '3 red blinking lights' people have been talking so much about lately meaning a hardware failure. A few days ago I however finally found another one in one of the stores I frequent and I snapped it up as quickly as I could.

With a new 360 it gave me time to try another one of my recent purchases, Dead or Alive 4. A great game that has kept me hooked since the first day I played it. Unlockable charcters, unlockable outfits, online play, etc, etc... I'm glad I purchased it.

Purchased XBox 360 game reviews

Well I've had my XBox360 for awhile now and I have all of the highly rated games (on gamespot) as well as a few lower rated arcade games. I'll give my own personal review of each one here.

Call of Duty 2

The gameplay puts you, a lone grunt on the battlefield, in the middle of World War II where you play as a Soviet, a British and an American soldier. For all those that enjoy first person shooters I'd highly recommend this one. The graphics on the XBox360 version are incredible and not in any way substandard to the PC version.

Perfect Dark Zero

Another first person shooter that I'd highly recommend. The gameplay puts you, Joanna Dark (And if you so choose, your companion on the other controller), against an organization bent on global domination. The graphics are superb and the storyline is excellent. If you like the recent James Bond games you'll love this one.

Need for Speed Most Wanted

I've been a Need for Speed fan for quite awhile now and there is no way that this one was a disappointment. Gameplay puts you against various blacklisted racers around the city in an attempt to get your original car back. Not only does the blacklist stand in the way of your prized car but the many cops driving throughout the area are very intent on bringing you down. If you're looking for realism you'd probably have more fun with something like Project Gotham Racing 3 however if you're looking for pure fun and excitement this is the game for you.

Project Gotham Racing 3

As stated above, realism is the key to this game. You drive one of eighty different cars in Formula One styled races in various cities around the world in an attempt to reach the top. The graphics, in my opinion, are the best in the group of titles that were available for the 360 at launch. The in-car camera view has to be seen (and played) to be believed. Another highly recommended game.

Kameo Elements of Power

If you're looking for more of a family title that both you and your kids could enjoy Kameo won't be a disappointment. Gameplay pits you, a princess able to transform into various elemental creatures with different powers and techniques, (And if you choose, your partner on the other controller) against the troll king and his minions in an attempt to rescue elemental ancestors.

Bejeweled 2 Deluxe

Downloadable from the XBox Live Arcade, Bejeweled 2 is an addictive gem-swapping game in the same fashion as the original. This time around you are given the task of unlocking new playable modes while attempting to achieve the best score possible so as to get highly ranked on the Live Arcade leader boards. If your looking for a time-wasting game that won't disappoint this one comes highly recommended.

Zuma Deluxe

Another game downloadable from the XBox Live Arcade. Zuma is an addictive puzzle game where you have to survive the tribulations of various temples in order to achieve the best score possible. You're given the option of playing in one of two different game modes, each with their own highscore list on the Live Arcade leader boards. Made by the same company that makes Bejeweled 2 and, while not as addicitive as Bejeweled, can still hold it's own against most of the other arcade puzzle games online.

Hexic HD

Hexic makes it's jump to High Definition with the release of Hexic HD, a game provided for free with the purchase of an XBox 360 Premium System or an addon hardrive for the Core System. Gameplay consists of matching same-coloured tiles in order to remove them from the board and perhaps scoring power tiles. Not quite as graphically intense as Bejeweled or Zuma but still highly addictive.

XBox 360 Release

Well the XBox 360 is going to be released in a little over a week from today. I personally can't wait. I only hope that they get quite a few in around the stores here because I've read that some stores are only getting, at most, 28 consoles.

Anyways on to what this post is about, my first XBox 360 games. I've long been a Need for Speed fan. Need for Speed Underground 2 is a great game and I have my spurts where I have to play it constantly so, even though the reviews for Need for Speed - Most Wanted aren't as good as some other racing games that can be played with the 360 I think I'm going to get it regardless.

I'm actually gunning for 2 games when I purchase my 360. The first is described above while with my second purchase I plan on buying a first person shooter. I've looked into Quake 4 however the reviews for that game aren't the best either so I'm currently torn between that and a game that has recieved incredible reviews: Call of Duty 2.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and others.

Well lately I've been playing the Sims quite alot with a little of Need for Speed Underground 2 on the side. I've recently got back into Splinter Cell chaos Theory for the XBox. It must be one of the best games I've ever played for the XBox (or the PC for that matter). I've gotten past the first couple missions. Man that game is tough and so in depth. I'd recommend anyone who enjoys action games or any games for that matter to pick it up.

Right now I'm trying to pay off my bills and save up for a new computer (With a better video card) so I can put some of the other games I've bought recently to the test. Painkiller, Silent Hill 3 and Half Life 2. The Sims will probably run quite a bit better as well. Giving that The sims 2: nightlife is less than a month away and as more EPs start rolling out for the sims I'm probably going to need it too.

cars, cars, cars!

The Sims 2 is finally getting cars in the next expansion pack, The Sims 2: Nightlife. I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for this. I'm very excited for it and from the looks of it, Nightlife is going to include quite alot more than the same type of expansion pack for the original Sims game entitled Hot Date. Cars, driveways, bowling, gambling and even vampires. Also we'll be able to see the surrounding houses from our own lot, something the sims 2 community has been asking for since the release of the game. It's slated for release around the end of August/beginning of September.

Microids purchases.

A couple months ago I bought Syberia 2 for the PC. The graphics on it were amazing and the gameplay was fabulous so I added a couple other games from the company to my wishlist. Recently I purchased two of these additions and moved them to my collection. Obscure seems very similar to a few of the games in the Silent Hill series only this time you have more people that you can control. Syberia, the predecessor to Syberia 2, isn't as good as the second in the series but that's to be expected. It's still an incredible game though.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Well ever since I've gotten Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory for my XBox I haven't been able to put it down. The 9.9 rating given to it by Gamespot in my opinion was worth it. I still have to finish Rainbow Six 3 and Ghost Recon 2 but I'm putting those on the back burner for now while I play this one. It's even hacked into my Sims 2 time :)
