Wow...I'm shocked. I'm sure many of you guys who are single player/fps enthusiasts would never realized that. CoD campaigns are infamous for its linearity, lack of depth, scripted events, short length, and it's obsession of trying to be a Michael Bay film. Who knew people actually enjoyed them so much.

Yes, there are still players active. I recommend you to not play it with the map pack since there are lesser players that have the map pack.

For me, it's really the ability to not think about remembering to save which I do feel like it kind of ruins the immersion for me at times. I also like how it does punish for you for failure which is a good thing because it will encourage you to play better while having a "save anywhere" feature will only punish you for forgetting to save, but that's not what I call a real punishment for dying in video games. Dying to lose progress and being forced to get back where you died can be a good thing. It builds replay value and if you're like me who likes to get good at games or have a lot of knowledge about them; this is basically helping you to be more familiar within the game.

Cool concept and idea. I would say it was underrated, but it could also be better.

All I can really think is Halo 2 on Legendary and Final Doom: The Plutonia Experiment on Ultra Violence (I'm not gonna count Nightmare! difficulty because it isn't really a reasonablly hard skill level.). But yeah, those are really the only one sI can think off. I do find most FPS games I've played are just kind of hard at best, but have a good challenge at the same time. I've always wanted a FPS game that was as hard like Ninja Gaiden, but still haven't found that game yet.

I prefer both. It really depends on what the game designer wants to do.

It depends. I jump on games on the highest skill level if it's a series I'm familiar with, it doesn't have much punishment (like there's quicksaves and the checkpoints are reasonably implemented) or it has similiar mechanics from previous games I've played. I'll play on normal skill if it's a game I'm not too educated with to "get the feel of it" or it's really punishing like having no checkpoints per level then I play to learn the stages before I jump on the hardest skill level.

Wow, Wolfenstein had a reboot and Doom will probably have one too. I wonder rebooting old fps series will be a trend for this genre.
