i am using netflix on 360 with a 6mb (i only get about 5mb though) dsl connection and it works great . i can watch full bar hd streams fine but if i go to my pc and download a file it halves my download speed on pc and netflix will downgrade my picture quality but its still good quality. routers can cause severe instability i had same 6mb connection with the wireless router supplied to me from att&t and it wouldn't stream videos at any speed not on ps3 or 360 the videos would only play a few secs then buffer for a minute or two strange thing is i could still download files on my connection without interference, so i bought a new router/modem (n) by netgear and everything works. as far as standard programing always looking bad on a HDTV i have heard this numerous times and maybe right for alot of hdtv's but not all i just got my 1st hdtv this christmas a samsung un55c7000 and a standard dvd's picture quality is awesome way better than my 36inch crt Toshiba which had a great picture too. and pepole get confused about speeds well noobs do i pay for a 6mb connection but that dosent mean i download that fast, max i have ever dl'd at one time is1.5mb but my average dl is 630kb as far as wireless or wired most say wired is faster but i get the same speed off my laptop(wireless) as with my pc that's wired.
