Hey all,

Needed some help in choosing between the above 3 devices. I have only one main criterion that I'm interested in (for example, I really don't mind which of the 2 companies offer a better selection of ebooks, as I know that all the books that I need are offered by both. I also don't mind that they are black and white, and don't want a tablet because it simply isn't as comfy as an ereader):

Reading Experience: The primary reason why I'm buying an e-reader in the first place, I want the experience to be as close to a normal book as possible. Which is why I want a touch e-reader in the first place- to move between pages easier. Now I've read up a little, and I'm totally confused between these 3 options. The Kobo Touch has no backlighting, so I guess that ought to make it as close to a book as possible, right? The almost-half-cost price factor is also attractive. Plus I wont be reading in the dark, so I dont really need backlighting. So is it the best choice for me? I want to be able to read with as little distraction as possible, as comfortably as possible. Or does backlighting enhance the reading experience? Can the backlighting be turned off in the kindle or in the kobo glo? Which among the 2 backlit versions is better? Do either of them have a weird bluish tinge ive heard about? How do they compare in terms of comfort to the glo when reading in sunlight/indoor lighting? Etc etc. So, well, ya, what I'm looking for in brief is minimum eye strain and maximum usability for long hours. Basically, for something that mimics a pysical book as closely as possible. (sorry, im rambling and repeating, but this IS, in all fairness, exactly what I want it for ;) )

I'd have relly loved to try them out, but I can't where I live, only order them online. So someone who has tried them/owns them (any/all), any feedback?

Thanks a bunch

yeah, thats alright. i dont plan to do much intensive work without a charger. ill probably need it to read stuff, surf net, or at the most to code without the charger (none of which are very system intensive), and as for gaming, its a least priority. im gonna get only the gt630 cause i will hardly be playin at all. and does it support discreet-integrated graphics card switching? thx

Hi. so i need some help for choosin a lappy.

Is an i7 really worth it? My needs include watching movies, internet and other daytoday activities, along with coding and web designing(using IDEs), image editing and probably a little video editing, android app development, occassionaly some light gaming.

NOTE: For me, something reallyy important is future proofing, as im like to stick with this lappy as long as possible, probably 5 yrs if it lasts.

Also, what about battery life and heating ?  how much will the above adversely affect it?

I have heard HP is v bad for heating. True or false?

What are acceptable core temps?

Hows battery life of these two?

Also does HP support the dual processor thingy, switch bw integrated and dedicated gpu to save power and cool off etc? or can the switching be done manually?

Also is the 9cell battery worth it for HP? does the projecting out rear make things more/less comforatble?

ill also be takin the monitor upgrade from HP

The model i specifically have in mind whether or not to take the upgrades for 2 and 3, or whether to take a cheaper lappy, is: HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC, as well as SVE14A390X-Premium.

I also plan to tkae i7 upgrade and 1gb graphics upgrade for vaio.

PS: waiting annoys me, so speed and mulitasking are important, but it is unlikely that ill ever be playing crysis 3 on one monitor and video editing and image editing on another monitor at the same time in a dual monitor setup, if you catch my drift :p. note however, that a dual monitor setup is perhaps an option worth considering for me for the extra space and comfort... but yes, i do wanna multitask, like say transfer files from lappy to external disk while coding/surfing the net with 25 tabs open/etcetc

Quad, Anti-glare 1080p, GTX650

GTR12
Does GT 650 actually matter that much? ci only need MINIMAL gaming and more video and image editing. low setting, playable for a few games like assassin's creed, dishonoured, etc which'll run on gt 630 is good enough, but im more concerend about the video/ img edititng (although again i wont be doin g all that much/ all that heavy )

I doubt you'd get impressive battery life with those specs.

kraken2109
No, its decent. 5 hrs. good enough for me anyways Also, does anyone know if there are any heating issues to be expected? will overheating damage the lappy, etc etc

Hi. so i need some more advice, this time for a lappy.

1) i5 dual core vs i7 quad

Is an i7 really worth it? My needs include watching movies, internet and other daytoday activities, along with coding and web designing(using IDEs), image editing and probably a little video editing, android app development, occassionaly some light gaming.

NOTE: For me, something reallyy important is future proofing, as im like to stick with this lappy as long as possible, probably 5 yrs if it lasts.

2) 1366x763 gloss vs 1920x1080 antiglare

I need to be comfortable for extended usage of the lappy, so is the 150$ well spent? does it matter all that much. Comfort in reading as well as image, video and to a small extent, games quality are what are improtant, with comfort slighlty more important than quality. Note that I code, so seeing more of the screen is advantageous, but i also wanted to know if that bigger screen space makes objects look unduly smaller, and cauyses discomfort for extended periods, as well as is 150$ is worth it. I plan to use the lappy both indoors and outdoors, but mostly indoors, but probably in tubelight/in bright sunny rooms.

3) gt630m vs gt650m

is the gt650 worth 75$ more? I only plan to do some light gaming, but i want it to be smooth when i do. as mentioned i also plan to image edit, as well as possibly (almost surely, actually), video edit. Please advise, and tell me the uses of graphics cards otehr than gaming. does it make the overall experience of using a PC better, smoother, faster?

Also, what about battery life and heating ?  how much will the above adversely affect it?

The model i specifically have in mind whether or not to take the upgrades for 2 and 3, or whether to take a cheaper lappy, is: HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC

Sorry if these questions are dumb, but this is the 1st time im buying a lappy for meself...

Hi. I had the following doubts:

1) Can i install assassin's creed simultaneously on a lappy and a PC with only 1 licence, provided i play only 1 at a time?

2) If 1 is a yes, then will the save file of one be automatically transferred to the other when  connect to the server?

3) If 1 is a no, can i install on one, then somehow backup my save, then install on another with no issues?

Thanks!
