I have owned most consoles throughout the years and one of my favourite all time consoles was the dreamcast. As a poor student at university i decided to buy the console and loads of games on the cheap as the PS2 was out of my budget range. The dreamcast was an excellent machine with graphical ability matching the PS2 early games.
Even though it was an excellent machine it's lifetime was very short as a result of poor marketing by SEGA, which was a very successful business after the production of the Master System and MegaDrive and game development. The games were too expensive, around 50 quid back in the 90s and very little/poor advertising were the systems demise.
Why is there not Killzone information pumping through our TVs considering the release is next month? !!!!
If Sony do not get there S*** together then the giant will fall to Microsoft as the Japanese market maybe loyal but not enough to compete worldwide. I own both and yes i really like the console, but sooo much needs to be improved or removed. Listen to the people which buy the console and react to feedback based on the most common problems, in my case the online facilities. It feels prehistoric compared to XBL and not much better then the Dreamcast Online facilities let alone the PS2 online functions.
More money needs to be put into marketing and research if this is to survive and succeed like it's older brother the PS2. Fanboys are the only strong thing keeping it going and those people are too proud to speak up and admitt "something needs to be done!"
The dreamcast was fantastic but failed because of the company not listening to it's users, Sony the same fate will fall if you are not careful. I just want it to be as great as it should be.
Rant over.
