I feel like if you're comparing this generation's big consoles to the last one, you really want to compare (PS4+Xbox One) sales versus (PS5+Xbox Series) sales. They're pretty close substitutes for each other.
Thinking about it more, I realized that if they take something like this as the new direction for the series, it'll be the second series that started its decline because the studio was too cheap to hire Ashly Burch specifically.
@xaliqen: People will unfortunately try to use it and pretend that doing so in circumstances like voice or art creation is somehow worthwhile, but I don't have to pretend that what they've made has any merit.
@WarGreymon77: I thought the medium that they had in 3 between the tons of bits of equipment that you mostly sell or scrap in 1 and the almost nothing in 2 was pretty good. Plus, you had a good number of alien weapons that reflected what their culture was like (such as the salarian sticky grenade gun, or the asari shotgun that's mostly intended as a backup weapon for biotics).
Planning an expanded universe before the first thing is even out really seems like an overreach to me. Plus I've never even heard of this until this very article.
I'm somewhat baffled that whoever made this was able to come up with even less appealing "uses" for AI than the ones that have already been presented, but they sure did it.
@igroku: Not only that, but they're comparing to how much money they made the previous year, where they released... nothing. Their previous game was Divinity OS2 in 2017. If you make one game every five years, obviously the years they release games are going to be where they get more of their money.
