Skyrim, but it's close. I'm excited for Deus Ex mainly because it's something completely new to me and I can't get enough of the trailers. It's not often I take the plunge for a new franchise, but I definitely plan on it here. Mass Effect 3 is a shoe-in, hopefully it gets a bit more RPG-y again with weapon and armor mods and character progression more like first, but Skyrim takes the cake.

Let's not forget The Old Republic, even if it is still "TBA 2011"

I've read several places that say my computer is limited to two, so I guess it's more a function of my hardware than my OS. I'll probably have a new computer by the time I get Witcher 2 though, seeing as the first one is still languishing in my sizeable backlog.

3GB RAM for Windows XP? Doesn't 32-bit limit you to 2? Or is that just my MoBo?

Just got Civ IV: Beyond the Sword on amazon, hopefully that will keep me occupied for a while until my Xbox gets its act together (the fans are making an unholy racket). Other than that I only plan on making 3 or 4 gaming purchases (barring ludicrously good Steam sales) for the rest of the year: Old Republic (should it be out), Arkham City, and Skyrim, with a contingency for Shogun 2 should TOR not come out/not hold my attention.

God, I wouldn't know what to do with 6 purchases....but I loved Arkham Asylum; gotta finish that someday.

I picked up Dragon Age II last night and am about 3 hours in. I'm a fan so far, but the Xtreme Baditude of the combat annoys me a bit. The speed with which everything happens somehow seems even less believable than the "I swing, you swing" pendulum of the first game.

Not a new purchase, but I finally picked up the Halo: Reach campaign again a few nights ago and it blew me away. I haven't enjoyed a single player shooter that much since 2008; I was a bit sad that I had to make time for Dragon Age.

You mean Dragon Effect 2? :P No, i haven`t tried it yet.harry_james_pot

Don't knock it till you try it, man. I do hope the item set is as robust as the first game, I'm not a fan of the ME2 streamlining method of taking a sledgehammer to the inventory.

Currently biding my time downloading Leliana's Song and Golems of Amgarrak.

 Howdy folks!

So after 24 hours, anybody have any impressions or opinions about the DA2 demo? I gave it a spin last night and was generally impressed (or should I say relieved?), but I still have some reservations.

Normal Difficulty was a bit easy on the easy side, so it seems I'll be playing on Hard, but in about 90 minutes of play, I didn't encounter any difficulty spikes, which means the gameplay balance team did their job well and I know that a more consistent difficulty was something they were striving for. There were more than a few occasions in Origins (the dragon lair above Haven and that bandit lair in Denerim. ugh) were I was all but forced to play certain stages on Easy despite completing much of the game on normal/hard.

The streamlined, sped up combat works well. I kinda miss the chess-match feel of Origins, but perhaps I'll be returning to a more pause-n-plan approach once I can turn up the difficulty. I definitely feel more connected to what's going on in the fight than previously and the need for effective team tactics is just as important as ever.

I like the conversation wheel, especially with the little intent icons, and the voice acting is still strong.

As for the new art direction, it's hit or miss. The animated exposition scenes are great. Character models are improved, and no, I'm not referencing the boobage. Ogres and qunari look awesome. Hurlocks look rather weird (and are a bit too easy to kill early on). The UI and menus, on the other hand, I HATE. It's Mass Effect 2 dumbed down for some kind of cut-rate Tron. flat black backgrounds, glowy selections, and generally oversimplified, geometric art style take a lot out of the atmosphere. Was there really something all that wrong with the combo portraits/meters and dusty menu tomes of the original? The new one feels like it should still be in development, and honestly, I really hope it is. Especially since EA is charging 60 bucks rather than 50 this go-round.

Overall, positive. Will most likely go through with my preorder, but not before I send BioWare an email about that half-assed UI.

Thoughts?

Nah, it's one of Irrational's old games, one of the last ones they made before BioShock, I believe. Kind of an overhead-view tactical RPG with lots of superhero customization. The heroes are all in-universe though, just in case you were expecting to level up Magneto for revenge against the 3rd Reich...

Both got great reviews from GS and I got them on sale on Steam a few months back but never really put any time into them as I had a pretty formidable RPG backlog at the time.
