Well, I'm hopeful about the game. I don't usually have time for a full-fledged Civilization game so a console sequel that streamlines some of the nitty-gritty parts of the game could be a fun alternative.
The Bitbag is reporting that "an unnamed person" has tipped them that the price will be dropped $50 to coincide with the release of GTA IV. Would it be a smart move? I'd say probably. The rumor is far from reliable in my mind but I figured it was at least worth mentioning. The guy reporting the rumor says, "It's interesting and I'm going to dig deep and find out if the rumor is true. Keep your pants in a bunch and don't lose any sleep."
They made the decision because of, "...the explicit link between violence and children that led us [DSG Retail] to the decision on this particular game." Anti-bullying charity BeatBullying said about the game, "We're disappointed this game was created in the first place. Some mindless people thought this was a fun, interesting piece of software to create, but it undermines all the hard work that organisations like ours are seeking to do." Rockstar responded by saying that it's game is far from a bully simulator and players were punished for attacking innocent kids and teachers.
In my opinion, this kind of hyper-sensitivity is just a result of people who don't play video games, perhaps because they are a generation too old to have played them as a child, and therefore don't understand them. Because it's something they don't understand, they buy into the fear and hyperventilation that games are destroying our youth. It's not just that they don't understand video games. They strongly dislike them, which leads them to believe any kind of smear. Perhaps groups like these are full of women whose husbands and boyfriends are addicted to World of Warcraft and are on a crusade against gaming.
