Canogaparkcindy Blog

Catching up in 2012

Didn't really realize this but I recently reached three-thousand reviews! I know it's not an enormous accomplishment but I'm really just happy I've made it this far. TV.com has really helped me with my writing (and typing skills), thanks to TV.com, I've developed a "voice" at a young age. I've considered writing reviews as a career option, but with this economy, it doesn't really seem likely.

I went to NYC recently for the first time in my life. Loved the energy/atmosphere, oh and especially the food. Mmm, delicious.

I realized that my username now is completely false since my name is not Cindy neither do I live in Canoga Park anymore, haha, just thought that was amusing.

Have been "stuck" at level 49 for nearly a year now, I think I just might pickup my reviewing just to get rid of the "Snufflupugus" title.

In my last blog, many were astounded at how many TV shows I watched. Just wanted to clarify that I hardly have time for the shows I watch as well (which is why I didn't write reviews as actively). My DVR gets filled within 2-3 weeks, and theres just a random day where I catch up with an eight hour marathon but it's not like I'm ALWAYS watching TV.

Recently, my Youtube account was suspended, a huge bummer since all my edited videos were on my computer back in California, so no way of re-uploading and I lost my Sony Vegas editing program so I kind of put a halt to that as well. I do miss it however.

I recently took up baking.

Hmm lets see, I recently ran the Denver Rock n' Roll 1/2 Marathon, time was around 2:30 which isn't fantastic but it will do.

I recently took up learning a foreign language. American Sign Language! It's very exciting, I've met some really amazing people through this form of communication. I recommend learning some signs, it is fun.

I also recommend taking this personality testIt's called the Enneagram. I personally think it's a comprehensive way of learning about yourself. It's a form of psychoanalysis so it does have some Freud overtones but overall, I really enjoy it.

TV Show Spotlight:Happy Endings

I personally did not like this show at all when it premiered last year but this year, I gave it a few tries and really liked it. It's like The Office/30 Rock/Community's witty humor/awkwardness mixed with the warmth and close-knitted relationships of Friends and How I Met Your Mother (without a laugh track)

What I Am Reading and What You Should Be Reading:

I don't know if you guys like reading, I guess I'll know in seeing how many of you guys stuck around to reading this immense blog, but I definitely recommend Jonathan Franzen's 'The Corrections.' It's about a man struggling with Parkinsons and how is family is dealing with that meanwhile facing their own ethical issues and conflicts. Think Six Feet Under or a grittier Parenthood.

Music Spotlight:Brand New

Don't know if any of you like this type of music, but I would recommend this band: Brand New. Start with the song "Daisy" and work your way from there. Lots of dark overtones to say the least, some screaming, but amazing songwriting. I would check out "Daisy" "Bed" "Noro" or "Millstone" if you're not in to the screaming.

Well hope you guys enjoyed this immense catch up of what I've been up too this year. Looking forward to hear from you guys.

Not back, but wanted to say hello.

Wanted to let everyone know that I was still alive, some of you probably still know because I still review here and there but definitely not as often as I used to. My life just got really busy and hectic this past year. This includes moving to a different state and starting a new school. I'm going to try to blog a bit here and there but not promising anything.

So it's almost been a year, I have no idea who is still on here, but if you remember me, let me know what you're up to.

As for Backatyourdoor, let me explain what happened. So I had written the entire series before I started the blogs and I was going to just post it straight from start to finish. When I did seasons 5-6 though, looking back, I kind of felt like I jumped the shark, and I had promised myself I wouldn't do that. So I'm going to keep all of season 5, but I'm still reworking S6-7. I know how it ends, and the ending is pretty big and unexpected, and I really wanted to make it more amazing if that makes sense.

Also I regretted killing off the two main antagonists, Mark & Nina. The thing I mostly regretted however was messing up with the friendship dynamics between the main four. I really felt like the Clay cheating Elle with Tracy meanwhile juggling Seana really ruined that. I wanted to make the characters more consistent and likable yet realistic and human. Obviously you can't detect with just an episode synopsis. I might start scriptwriting but I'm not sure, I'm already busy enough as it is. Well enough of that.

As for what I'm watching on television:

Happy Endings
The Middle
Community
Cougar Town
Once Upon a Time
Awake
House
Smash
How I Met Your Mother
2 Broke Girls
90210
Secret Life of the American Teenager
Ringer
New Girl
Victorious
iCarly
The Office
Parks and Rec
Breaking In
Big Bang Theory
and probably more...

So yeah, watching a lot this season, but I'm remembering to be balanced (thank God for DVR!) Anyways, I'm signing out! :)

What's renewed and what's canceled.

I thought I would make a blog about the incredibly stupid cancellations this year (and renewals). I started watching 4-5 new shows this TV season and pretty much all of them were canceled.

Hellcats canceled!? After that finale!? Now that was just disappointing. I feel bad for the actors, they deserved better.
Better with You also ended. A show with awesome potential axed. I really saw this show going for a long time and the entire cast was fantastic.
Mad Love I am kind of indifferent about this show. It only had 13 episodes, wasn't enough to prove itself so I'm not that torn up about this show.
Breaking In Pretty much the same as Mad Love, only I just wish the show was better in general. We got a pretty cool cast, just to go to waste on some weak writing.
Lie to Me I stopped watching the show in the middle of it's second season. Not because it was bad, but because I was too busy. Sad to hear it got canceled. Another show with potential down the drain.
Smallville Epic finale! Ended on it's own terms. Was very happy with how it ended.
As for renewals...
90210 I am in awe. How did this show get renewed? The finale was pretty awful. I once really liked this show, but whatever I once liked about it is gone. I'm thinking of giving up on this one.
The Secret Life Picked up for a fourth season. Kind of undeserved, but at least this show continues to be consistently good on a weekly basis.
Chuck I stopped watching the show this year, and I'm kind of glad that I did. I saw an episode late in to the fourth season and it was just awful. Good season 5 is the last.
Parks&Rec/The Office Glad Parks & Rec got renewed but The Office has definitely overstayed it's visit. Interested in seeing the new dynamics next year though.
House I'm concerned about the show. Amber Tamblyn was great this season but Lisa Edelstein and Robert Sean Leonard are both leaving next season. What's left, really? The insufferable Taub, the very tired Foreman, acceptable Thirteen, and the caricature of the once-great character: Chase. Oh yeah, and House, he's relapsed 3-4 times already!? Hopefully, eighth season will be the last.
HIMYM One of the few shows I'm happy with right now. Looking forward to next season! Finale was great.
TBBT/2.5 Men The Big Bang Theory has regressed in quality this year, but I'm going to stay loyal and continue watching the show. I was never a "fan" of 2.5 Men but I did manage to start watching and I'm pretty interested in how they're going to handle Charlie Sheen's departure.
Rules of Engagement Average at best...
SPN I need to catch up! The season overall has been a mixed bag, hopefully the finale proves itself!

So that's my TV season folks, see ya next fall!

what's new...

So I know I haven't blogged in a long while, but I have been SUPER busy. BAYD is on hiatus indefinitely, if you want to know how the show ends, just PM me and I'll tell you. I wanted to catch you guys up on (mostly) what I've been watching on TV as of late. So here it goes, let me know if you watch any of these....

Mondays:
The Secret Life of the American Teenager
Secret Life returned on Monday, and to tell you the truth, it wasn't anything special but it's still entertaining, and the characters still fascinate me. It's definitely the ultimate guilty pleasure. The STD story line is definitely something worth tuning in too.
House
In my opinion, the entire season has been a bit of a disappointment with only a few standout episodes. The House & Cuddy relationship really ruined it for me, but it still continues to be one of my favorite shows. The cast continues to be great and the medical mysteries continue to be interesting, just too much focus on "Huddy."
90210
Another show that has been kind of disappointing as of late. The story lines are getting more & more ridiculous and I just think the show forgot what it once was. This show is already a sure thing for season 4, but I really don't know how or even if they are going to fix things.
How I Met Your Mother
This season has been fantastic! And Neil Patrick Harris one of the reasons why. Every has just been great, the writing has vastly improved and it seems like the writers are finally focusing on the actual story line and development of the characters unlike they did in season 5.
Mad Love
Not one of my favorite shows, it's not the most original show overall, but we got a charming cast and some entertaining story lines. Pretty good comedy overall, I pretty much only watch for Sarah Chalke (Scrubs, HIMYM).
United States of Tara
Yes, it is finally back! It premiered this last Monday, to tell you the truth, it wasn't a lot to write home about, but the beginning of last season also started out slow but it eventually improved. No doubt that it will improve this year. We got a great cast, fantastic writing, and a very original story line. What else can you ask for?

So as you can see, this was only Mondays, I'm going to cut the blog short for right now, as you can see, I watch a lot LOL. Have a great week everybody! :)

don't panic

Season 6, Episode 5: "Don't Panic"
The trial is over, and Tracy skips town afraid to face the music after testifying against Clay. Everyone finds out about Robert's death, and Seana's parents. Seana hasn't spoken since the incident, literally. She has become mute, and Clay tries to get her to talk to him, but she wont say a word, not to anyone. Meanwhile Elle is in the mental institution, and she finds out about Robert's death which pushes her more off the ledge once she thinks that she caused it somehow, just like she "caused" Kate & Dex's death. Elle's sister, Karen comes back in town to take care of her Elle, but Elle still isn't all there, and has this idea that if she ends her life, everyone else's will be better. Seana goes to the doctor's office, to see if her baby is okay after what happened. She doesn't say anything to the doctor but she has Clay take her. It turns out she has lost her baby, which finally gets her to speak. "I lost my baby? I lost my baby (Voice cracks)" and she starts to cry. Seana becomes vengeful and she goes under investigation to find out who did this to her and why they did it to her. Clay thinks she should rest, but she doesn't want too. In the end, the police find fingerprints, but they're somehow untraceable. They get a name, Scott Jones. She is set on finding him, and making him pay for what he did. Amy is still unconscious and Alicia & Nathan are planning to kill her after leading them in where they want to go. As Nathan prepares to, Alicia starts to have doubts and kidnaps Amy in the nick of time before Nathan kills her. She goes against the Others, because she feels guilty, and tries to get her to where she was trying to go. Nathan looks desperately for Alicia, while Will gets a knock at his door, and Alicia has Amy in her arms, she asks to come in, and the episode fades out to Robert's funeral. Everyone is around it (except Elle of course, and it's just a really heartbreaking moment for everyone, and a turning point for Seana).

Hoped you guys liked the episode, tell me what you think! :)

alternate universe episode.

Season 6, Episode 4: "Across the Universe"
The trial continues for Clay. Elle gets rescued by a helicopter that comes down when Dex's body is discovered. Elle had cracked her head open, she gets some stitches, and then has to go back to rehab to sort things out, but this time not for an eating disorder. She gets put on suicide watch. Will comes to visit her and tells her about the trial and what Tracy is doing to Clay. Before they put her back in to rehab, she says she needs to do one more thing. Will goes to watch her just in case she does something stupid. Elle looks really beat up, and pretty much doesn't even act or look like how she used too. She has undergone a complete change. She even had a heart to heart with will in the rehab center. She thinks that she brings death, and that everyone around her keeps dying. She breaks down in tears a couple times, and she just wants to end her life before she hurts anyone else. At the same time, she knows she needs help, so that's why she called Will. Once Tracy seems to have won the trial, Elle walks in to be on Clay's side. She tells the judge and the jury this whole speech about what her & Clay were doing that night. She says that, since Clay was angry that Jason had framed him. Clay asked her to plant drugs in Jason's car, she says that's what they were doing that night. Clay didn't admit to it because he didn't want to face any jail time from Jason's father. As a result of this, Clay ends up being not guilty, leaving Tracy in rage. Clay does have to take anger management classes due to his present violent behavior but he gets off with a slap on the wrist. After the trial is over, Clay ponders with Elle what would have happened if he didn't kill Jason that night. They ponder on what could have been. The rest of the episode is set in an alternate universe. Seana & Clay would have stayed together. Elle would have accepted Will's proposal of dating. (Takes place after the season 1 finale). Both relationships would have been stronger than ever. One problem: They all die in the end... (What happens: Jason would have gone completely insane knowing his plan of breaking up Clay & Seana hadn't worked. He ends up getting back together with Amy Stone. Amy starts to see weird glitches in his behavior. He would stalk Seana in secret, and pose as a normal guy. Amy finds his "stash" of pictures & letters of Seana & Clay. Jason catches her: "I told you not to go down here." He contemplates killing her afterward, he then stabs her in the side, and she falls to the ground. He follows Clay & Seana home. He puts on a mask, and while Clay leaves to run errands. Jason breaks in and shushes Seana, he beats her & throws her around, before brutally raping her. Then he kills her. One year passes (Takes place at the end of season 4), and Clay cannot let go of Seana's death, since it is revealed they were engaged. Senior prom approaches, Clay has become manic depressive. On prom night, Will & Elle are together on a date. Then Clay comes to prom & starts a school shooting, killing Will & Elle in the process, before killing himself. Back to reality, Elle finishes up telling the story. Clay laughs, and says "Are you serious? That would never happen!" They laugh together and play around like good old friends do. Clay then has to let her go because her issues, he thanks her, and she walks away with Will to escort her. The episode fades to black with Clay staring off in to space thinking about the past 5 years. (Flashbacks are shown of Rachel, Jason, Clay, Elle, Amy, Will, Robert, everyone together, good times), then the episode ends.

So probably the longest episode of BAYD ever, just a nice filler treat for people who have read BAYD from the very beginning. Hope it wasn't too long, everything else other than Elle's recovery and Clay's trial is still up in the air. Tell me what you think! :)

part 2

Just realized I made it to level 44! Cool! :)

Season 6, Episode 3: "What I Really Learned in Study Hall" (Part Two)
Clay has to go through countless police interviews. Then Clay finds out that Tracy, bitter over the breakup with Will, is testifying against him. Even though she wasn't there when Clay killed Jason, she claims she has proof against him. Once they are both in court, they have a war against each other. Tracy brings up the fact that he had a motive, Jason had framed him. Will feels incredibly guilty since he told Tracy everything about Jason's death when they were dating. Clay feels betrayed by Will. The police dig deeper into finding out the truth. Once Elle is about to jump off the building, her psychiatrist (Lets call him Dex) busts out to try and save her. "Elle, don't do this!" -Dex. Once she's about to jump, Dex tackles her which ends up saving her life, but results in Dex falling off the building as he plummets to his untimely death. Elle gets knocked out on top of the building once she hits her head on the cement floor. Blood is shown creating a puddle around her head. Seana is held a gunpoint, yet again, in her own room. His whereabouts in Seana's house are unknown. He brings Seana downstairs and cleans them of all their things. Robert tries to play hero, then the man shoots Robert. Seana rushes to his side. Seana's mom screams, and then the man shoots Seana's mom just so she could stop screaming. Seana starts bawling on the floor. Then finally, the man shoots Seana's father. He takes everything he needs (we don't know what that is), he leaves Seana alive, and says "See ya later... Seana" Seana bawls hysterically, and it fades out to Amy who is now in Boulder, Colorado, with Alicia & Nathan. She goes to the train station to drop off Alicia & Nathan. Alicia says she's sorry she has to do this. Amy asks what's that. Alicia takes a chloroform rag and puts it over her mouth, which knocks out Amy. Nathan & Alicia look at each other, and it fades to black.

Okay so things are definitely heating up for BAYD. Four deaths in this episode, sorry if it feels like I'm whirlwind pacing, but like I said before, this season is explosive. Thoughts? Predictions?

part 1

Season 6, Episode 2: "What I Should Have Learned In Study Hall" (Part One)
Clay has to face Tracy's battery charge, and at this point, he doesn't really care. He just wants to go to court and get over it. Until the police ask him about his violent past. Then they reopen the Jason Bradford case. The police want to ask him more questions about his whereabouts that night. Clay remembers he just made up a story, the last time they asked him this. So he tells a similar story, but it doesn't quite match up with his old story, so now the police are holding him. Elle is seeing a psychiatrist, and her psychiatrist notices some suicide warning signs. Elle continues to have traumatic dreams of Kate, and she just can't take it anymore. Once she walks out of the office, she notices the building she's in. "That's... a long way down..." Elle decides to take the elevator to the roof. Once she's on top of the building, she looks down, looks back up again, and as the scene cuts to black as she's about to jump. Will breaks up with Tracy because of the charge against Clay and the outcome of the trial. No matter what he did to Tracy, Clay is still is his friend. Seana comes home to tell her parents that she has home for a whole year. Roberts wonders if it's the right time to tell them the news that she is pregnant. She ends up telling them in the end, and they don't get a good response. Then they hear something up in Seana's old room. Seana goes up to her room. Only to find a person in a mask. When he sees her there: The guy says. "Say anything, and I will kill you." The scene fades out and it shows Amy in her car. The hitch hikers are Alicia & Nathan. They're coming from Canada, and they needed to get to Boulder to meet a friend. Later, once Amy is stopped at a gas station, it shows Alicia on the phone with someone. She mentions THE OTHERS, and that her full intention is to avenge her partner, who is left unnamed. The person on the other line asks about their driver (Amy). The person says when she gets to Boulder, to kill "the American." It's to be continued.

So it seems like everyone's in danger this season. Okay so I don't know if you remember this from the fourth season. But Mark mentioned THE OTHERS to Nina, when she planned to murder her own son, to get to Will. Mark said "The Others won't be too happy about this." Anyways, it's mentioned again here, just hope you remember. Let me know what you think of the episode, and further predictions! :)

season 6 premiere

Season 6, Episode 1: "Situations"
Clay has the biggest outburst ever, sort of like "HOW COULD YOU!?" kind of thing. He throws Robert across the room, and trashes their dorm completely. Everyone walks in to the room (Tracy & Seth walk in, Will stays outside & doesn't see anything). They've never seen Clay this angry before, Tracy tries to stop him, and in confusion, Clay turns back and punches her in the face. She falls to the floor. Clay then sees if she is okay, saying sorry. Tracy just throws a disappointed glance at him. And she whispers, "I hate you." Tracy runs out of the apartment. Clay says this as he leaves "Have a nice life, Seana, Good luck to you, Robert." He then turns and leaves. Seana chases after Clay. She tells him, she didn't want him to find out this way. He asks her if she's going to keep the baby, she says yes. And he just says he wants to go home. Soon after, Seth wants to catch up with Robert, and he wants Robert to show him around, in Paris. Robert mentions the amazing program they have in Paris. Seth looks interested, and continues to spend his day with Robert. Will goes after Tracy, to ask her if she still has feelings for Clay, only to find out she has a black eye. She tells Will what happened. And as Clay & Seana are talking, Will goes up to Clay and punches him, and sends him to the floor. Seana ends up breaking the fight. Tracy calls the police and files a battery charge against Clay. (Domestic Violence Charge). Robert & Seana decide to go back to Boulder to raise their child. As everyone starts to go back home, Seana asks Seth why he isn't packed up. He says he is staying in Paris, saying it would be good for him. He is going to take the school program. Seana is so happy for him, but Seth gets a bad response from everyone else. In the end of the episode, it shows Elle signing out of the rehab center after they have discharged her. She says "Finally," the scene fades out and it shows Amy on her way to Clay's house in her car. She looks down at the car seat, then looks back up at the road. She sees a couple hitchhiking. She pulls over next to them and the episode ends.

So that was a long premiere! Tell me what you think, and your predictions for the rest of the season. :)

season 5 finale

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, just had an awesome winter break! :D

Season 5, Episode 24: "Make This Go on Forever"
Clay reveals he is going to Paris to be with Seana. He realizes they belong together. He is set on getting her back. The next scene shows Amy in Ohio packing her bags and her dad yelling at her. Amy has decided to drop out of college to be with Clay. She says she'll finish college later. Her father says she is making a big mistake. She leaves the room in tears. Robert & Seana start making big decisions regarding their future. Robert passes his class, since they decided to stay in Paris, Robert decides to job hunt while Seana is obsessing over the health of the baby. Clay says goodbye to Elle. She wishes she can go with him, but she's still in the rehab. Will ponders on breaking up with Tracy when all she can talk about is Clay and how she's still upset over the fact that he cheated on her. Will also is depressed that they don't have sex because he has an incurable disease. To let out the pressure of their crumbling relationship, he decides to tag along with Clay on the way to Paris. Seth also decides to go because he's been meaning to find himself after the whole blowout with Mark. Will, Tracy, Seth & Clay all go to Paris, meanwhile Kate & Elle are making good recovery at the rehab until she finds out that Kate has been secretly throwing up after she eats. Kate wont stop, and Elle can't tell anybody. Things come to a boil when when Kate ends up having heart failure and inadvertently dies. Elle blames herself, and starts going crazy again. Her story line ends when she begins to plan her suicide. Clay and the group arrive in Paris, they get to Seana & Robert's apartment, the door is slightly open. Clay goes in, and sees a "What To Expect When You're Expecting" book on the counter. He sees Robert & Seana in bed together sleeping. His face shows rage, he goes in to the room, closes the door behind him, leaving Will, Tracy, and Seth outside in shock and fear. All you hear is Seana letting out a scream, and the episode ends.

Let me know what you think of the finale!
