I've read the some of the comments below and thought I'd comment as well.
As I understand it the way the COD Elite service works is to provide early access to the DLC, rankings, Leaderboards etc. Alot of people will buy the COD DLC anyway so it makes sense if you play alot of COD. Several friends ONLY play COD and nothing else.
I've played nearly all the Battlefield games and bought the DLC so IF a similar service happens then I'd consider getting it , BUT it depends on whats in the package.
If I don't like whats on offer I wont get it. That's my choice. If you don't want it then don't get it but stop bitching about it.
You better get used to these type of systems as this is the way game sales are going.
They will become a paid for service like MMO's.
If you ever bother to read the EULA agreement at the start of installing any recent game, you'll discover that you don't own the game itself. You only own a licence to use the software much like the licence on an OS. This licence could be considered a subscription to a service. So in a way your already in a subscription service so get used to it.
